Chiahats

Chiahats

I’ve discovered the cutest hats for adults and kids on www.etsy.com. They are called Chiahats and are made by seller Chiahats; I love that they are like nothing I’ve seen before. Totally conversation starters and sure to get tons of attention. Can’t you just picture your little one keeping warm all winter in these fluffy wonders? It’s faux fur, so no worries about hurting any fluffy animals in their making. For $50, you choose the lining, size, color, and a Velcro or ribbon closure. You could even choose to buy matching hats for everyone in the family!

Herban Lifestyle Man Facial Soap

Herban Lifestyle Man Facial Soap

When I had my first son, he made his way home and took care of his shower and grooming there. The second time around, I wanted him to stay with me. However, while packing my hospital bag, I failed to pack (or remind my husband to) a change of clothes and any toiletries for my husband. He felt very grimy by the end of that particular weekend. So, if I ever do it again, I’d like to treat him with something nice like the Herban Lifestyle Man Facial Soap (among a few other things.) It’s organic and it’ll keep him feeling refreshed and smelling nice. $7 from Etsy seller HerbanLifestyle. Free shipping in the U.S. until December 31st!

Bell Blocker

Bell Blocker

How many times have you put your child down for a nap, only to have the doorbell awaken him a few minutes later? Just about every mom I know (including me) has had this problem (except for one lucky mom I know, whose child sleeps like a log through doorbells, phones ringing, everything). That’s why I like the idea of the Bell Blocker. It completely covers your doorbell and tells visitors to “Please Knock,” when in the down position (it can be left covering the doorbell in the up position at other times, making the doorbell accessible to visitors). For just $10.99, the peace of mind this product can provide is priceless. It’s also a great gift idea for a new parent. You can purchase one at InventiveParent.com.

Free Udder Covers

12

How would you like a free patterned nursing cover? Just pay shipping and handling after you enter the promo code “Thanks”! I’ve been told to just go to UdderCovers.com, choose Shop Now, pick the product you want (even on the 3-piece gift sets), and you’ll find yourself at the center of the page where you can type in the promo code. Using this code gives you a $32 discount every time you make a transaction. What could be better than that? There are some really pretty patterns to be had. If you’re not currently nursing, these covers make great baby shower presents.

kellymom.com

kellymom.com

Many moms I know rely on kellymom.com for their baby questions. Not only is the site attachment parenting and breastfeeding friendly, the advice works for the modern mom who doesn’t want to just go with what everyone is telling her. It’s for the mom who wants a different point of view than the archaic versions she gets outside her home. Any site that lets me know that maybe it’s normal that my one-year-old isn’t sleeping through the night (rather than the pressure I’m getting from everyone else to let him cry it out) is a site that gets a thumbs up from me. It answered a lot of my nursing questions when I was a newbie to the whole process as well.

5 of My Favorite Halloween Etsy Things

5 of My Favorite Halloween Etsy Things

The Mr Happy Skull Teether is adorable and spooky and just in time for Halloween.  It has just the right curves and points for a teething baby (like mine) and is festive to boot. Only $13 from seller EcoAyris.

Second up are the Fleece Fingerless Gloves for kids; they’re adorned with  vampires (though there are skulls and monsters available too) and great for keeping hands warm on nippy Halloween night. They’re $14.95 from seller BoysenberryLane and I’d have trouble resisting wearing them all fall.

Next up, for the youngest in the household, the set of Two Blue Regent Skull Burp Cloths for $10 really caught my eye. The pattern is intricate and attractive but oh-so-spooky as well. They are useful as burp cloths or change pads; the decision is yours. Matching bibs and blankets are sold as well by MyWoobyandMe.

Cute as can be and a great gift idea for your favorite infant trick-or-treater (who isn’t quite ready for candy), the Bony Baby Hat is a Halloween hat you’ll love. The creator made it with the comfort of babies foremost in her mind. For $28, this hat can adorn your baby’s head and get oohs and aahs from all passersby.

Last of all, guaranteed to get second and third glances, the Skeleton Bones dress PVC is for mom. A cute, sexy, innovative design that begs to be worn year after year, you’ll be the talk of the town most certainly for $220 by seller melissae.

SkinGlow Bedding Collection

Often after having a baby, moms tend to neglect their own skin care regimen they’d adhered to faithfully before baby was born. Who has time to worry about silly things like moisturizer and age cream when you have a beautiful new bundle of joy to take care of? The SkinGlow Bedding Collection is designed to help these women, and anyone else who wants to take care of their skin while sleeping. It is a copper-infused line of pillows, pillow protectors, towels, and comforters that are clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet in just four weeks of use. I’m not sure if I believe in these claims, but, as 40 quickly approaches, I’d like to try them to see if they work. You can view the collection at BedBathAndBeyond.com, where pillows sell for $39.99 to $49.99 and towels and washcloths $4.99 to $8.99 each.

KraftFoods.com

kraftfoods

When we’re stuck for supper ideas, my husband and I turn to KraftFoods.com. There are recipes for every occasion and it couldn’t be easier to find recipes that work for you. Simply find the “Make It Now” box on the left hand side of the home page and type in the ingredients you have at hand and the site will hunt down every recipe with those items in them. We’ve put together some really great meals just by searching through the recipes offered on the site. The best part? There are pictures to go with nearly every recipe and they pop up when you scroll over the recipe title, which comes in handy when you’re in a hurry, as you don’t have to click on every single title to see what the meal actually looks like. I’m grateful to the folks at Kraft for their fab ideas and I think you will be too!

Witch and Black Cat primitive folk art print (5×7)

Witch and Black Cat primitive folk art print (5x7)

After spotting the Witch and Black Cat primitive folk art print (5×7) at etsy.com seller tascha’s shop, I thought to myself, what a great idea!! Change out art to match the season; the kids will love trying to find out which prints mom has put up. Everyone can enjoy having an art discussion whenever a new one comes in the mail. She has all kinds available, from Halloween prints such as this one to winter scenes to scenes appropriate for spring and Easter. Only $15 and absolutely breathtaking, not to mention original, I’ve got my eye on a print for my own house.

New Mom & Baby Black Bag

new-mom-baby-bag

I found the perfect baby shower gift at thebabyhabit.com: it’s the New Mom & Baby Black Bag. Not only does it come with a pink toothbrush, slippers, and soap dish set, but there’s room for all of the things a new mom needs for her hospital stay. It makes a cute diaper bag as well. You can add a personalized text under the existing text for $5, a nice touch to an already thoughtful gift. For $34, it says “I’m thinking of you and baby”, something new moms will come to appreciate (it can be tough going from pampered pregnancy to new mom.)

AE Jeans and Tank

AE Jeans and Tank

Let’s face it. Mamas can’t always be wrestling toddlers and infants into buggies, baby carriers and car seats while wearing ball gowns and designer frocks. They’ve got to have ease of mobility and comfort. They can’t worry about getting a crisp new white blouse smudged by little fingers. However, there’s no reason we can’t have both sensible and fashionable, is there?

I’ve talked to moms who swear by American Eagle Outfitters jeans, so check out the Women’s Boy Fit Jeans for $49.50 (buy one, get one 50% off) and the AE Floral Gathered Tank on sale for $9.95 (their clearance section has some pretty outstanding deals.) Both pieces are perfect for ease of wear and the top is ideal for covering a mommy belly, with its blousson hem, while looking pretty fabulous. Pair it with embellished sandals or wedge heels and you’re instantly a mommy-on-the-go trendsetter.

Baby Station by Innovative Vending Solutions

baby-station

Here’s an idea I’m surprised no one has thought of before: a vending machine full of baby supplies. Innovative Vending Solutions has created the Baby Station, a machine that dispenses diapers, wipes, pacifiers, rattles, bottles, and more. The machines are placed in areas where you would expect to find moms/dads and babies in need of items on the go, such as shopping malls. Right now the machines are in limited distribution (mostly in the Ohio and California areas), but as the company grows, they will be found more often across the United States. The company also sells the machines as a business opportunity which may appeal to stay-at-home parents. You can view this intriguing idea at InnovativeVendingSolutions.com.

Lucy Sykes Spring/Summer Collection

Lucy Sykes Spring/Summer Collection

After spotting Matilda Ledger in a pink tiered Lucy Sykes dress recently, I thought I’d have a gander at the site. There are so many things to choose from, all in pretty, feminine patterns and cuts. Some of the dresses look like they’d only be appropriate with bloomers, but in all, it’s swanky gear. Harmonize your daughters’ outfits, should you have two or more girls, easily with coordinating collections of dresses, tops, and pants. You can even get a thing or two for yourself or your sons while shopping at LucySykes.com.

Since the Lucy Sykes site seems to be malfunctioning, I found the sweet-as-can-be candy-striped cotton seersucker dress at the famous Saks Fifth Avenue online store for $72.
