Kushies Zolo Mobilo

Kushies Zolo Mobilo

We are currently using this adorable mobile from Kushies’ Zolo line. The wild and crazy animals are cute as can be. I wasn’t sure how this would look in our daughter’s nursery (which has a rather modern pink and tan floral theme), but it works. It also fit nicely on our cradle early on. I like the simple ease of this mobile–nothing to wind, no music, no batteries to replace. The mirror on the underside is another big selling point–babies love it. The only problem I have is that the wooden wheel that attaches it to the crib came apart a bit. It is still safe and secure, but a little imperfect. You can purchase one for $59.99 at kushiesonline.com.

Mod Pod Pop Monkey Fitted Crib Sheet

Mod Pod Pop Monkey Fitted Crib Sheet

I was recently browsing the Babies R Us Web site when I came across this cute little crib sheet. Although I find the rest of the coordinating crib set to be a bit over the top, this sheet is fresh and fun. I think it would look great with simple brown furnishings. It would be cute for either a boy or a girl. It is also affordable at $15.99. You can purchase one (and check out the rest of the Mod Pod Pop Monkey line) at ToysRUs.com.

Artful Names

This is a great idea for a gift or as a way to obtain a unique, personalized piece of artwork for your own home. Artful Names takes a name (your child’s, your own, anyone) and makes it into a work of art. There are various style designs and colors available, and each is Giclee printed on canvas. It arrives in a frame, ready to hang in the nursery or another part of your home. The fade resistant ink used on these works of art is guaranteed not to fade for 100 years. You can purchase this design for $100 or view all the styles and designs available at ArtfulNames.com.

Pottery Barn Kids Fairy Mobile

Pottery Barn Kids Fairy Mobile

Here is an ultra-sweet and very feminine mobile that would make the perfect finishing touch to your little one’s nursery. I think it would match with a lot of different crib sets from many different manufacturers. The mobile plays “Hush Little Baby” while the adorable little cloth fairies circle your baby’s head. I absolutely love it. You can purchase one for $59.95 at potterybarnkids.com.

Sports Fanatic Ceiling Fan by Suite Life Kids

sports-fanatic-fan

When we moved into our current home 4 years ago, one of the first updates we made was to install ceiling fans in every room possible. I was surprised what a difference they make, especially in the upstairs bedrooms. In my son’s room, we installed a sports-themed ceiling fan, similar to the Sports Fanatic Ceiling Fan by Suite Life Kids. Suite Life Kids carries a variety of ceiling fan styles and designs to coordinate with any nursery or child’s room decor. They sell coordinating Ceramic Fan Pulls separately on their site. With three globe lights, three speeds to the fan, and the ability to cool a room of 400 sq. feet., these fans are just the right size for a child’s bedroom. While the price on this one is a bit hefty, at $239.95, if it lasts from your child’s babyhood all through his childhood, it will have been well worth the price. You can view all styles available at SuiteLifeKids.com.

Lulla-Bear by Crowley Jones

lullabear

This looks like an ordinary, everyday teddy bear - but wait, looks can be deceiving. It’s actually an MP3 player designed specifically for babies and children. Designed to accompany your child to crib or bed at naptime or bedtime, the Lulla-Bear is a soft, cuddly friend who plays 90 minutes of pre-loaded songs and sounds. Lullabies, nature sounds, and play songs are all part of Lulla-Bear’s repertoire. With Lulla-Bear’s built in, stored USB cable, you can connect him to your computer and upload more songs to his playlist. It has a 512 MB memory capacity, is PC and MAC compatible, and takes three AA batteries (included). The sound quality is excellent, too. This could be the perfect solution if your child is a reluctant napper or becomes fearful or anxious at bedtime. Music soothes the soul, and has often helped my son get to sleep when nothing else would. You can purchase Lulla-Bear for $49.95 at StoreCrowleyJones.com.

Wit & Whimsy Canvas Prints by Cici Art Factory

wit-whimsy

Artwork designed for children should stimulate imaginations and grab their attention. Liz Clay, the artist behind Cici Art Factory, creates art specifically designed for kids, using the chunky paint, pure pigment, and clean design of original art. I especially like this L’Avion print from her Wit & Whimsy collection. This gilcee print uses up to 8 inks to make it bright and colorful, yet remains realistic. Printed in Canada, the canvas prints are mounted on stretcher frames made from BC lumber. Cici Art Factory carries a variety of styles in its lines including Portraits and Lotsa. To browse all of the styles available, visit CiciArtFactory.com, where this L’Avion print sells for $99.

Baby Night Lights Personalized Photo Night Light

classic-baby-night-light

Every nursery or child’s bedroom needs a night light. Baby Night Lights offers parents a way to turn their child’s personal snapshot into a custom photo night light. Three steps on Baby-NightLights.com makes this a simple process: you just upload a photo, crop the photo, and approve it. In about a week, you’ll receive your child’s picture mounted into a museum style night light frame. Each night light is lit by a 4-watt bulb and features a toggle on-off switch. This would make a great gift for new parents, as anyone can use a night light with their child’s photo on it (especially new parents, who often tend to wake up and stumble out of bed on the way to the baby’s room!). You can view these unique night lights at Baby-NightLights.com, where they range in price from $19.95 to $24.95.

Small Duck Organic Cotton Wall Print

small-duck-organic-cotton-wall-print

The Small Duck Organic Cotton Wall Print is sweet, eco-friendly, and perfect for building a nursery around. Prop it on a dresser, as shown, or perhaps get other organic prints to complement it from RosenberryRooms.com and make a grouping above the change table, dresser or crib. Paint the walls a shade of yellow to match with furniture in the same brown hues as the ducks’ feet and bills to finish it off perfectly. Green cushions and crib sheets will complete a nursery made for either boy or girl. Starting with a $24 non-toxic, water-based print is the ideal way to put together a nursery made to be easy on baby’s eyes and calming for naps and bedtime.

Spoling Change Table from Ikea

Spoling Change Table from Ikea

While on a mothering forum, I clicked a link to the Spoling Change table from ikea.com and was instantly in love with it. Though I have two change tables already, and don’t need one, I want to direct others to this folding change table. It is sleek, handy, and has lots of compartments for storing baby necessities. The net underneath the table converts into a laundry bag; it just zips up. If you’re in a small space, what could be more useful than a folding change table? I can see it as a useful travel item as well. You’ll have to hit the store to get this black and white $69.99 space saver though; it’s not available online.

Upscale on a Budget: IKEA Fabler Prickar Rug

Browsing through the IKEA Web site makes me hugely jealous of the lucky folks who live near one of their stores. There are just so many fun and affordable items to drool over. I really like the look of this Fabler Prickar Rug. Though it retails for just $24.99, it rivals some much pricier kids’ rugs that I have seen. It measures 133cm x 133cm, and would be perfect for a bedroom, playroom, or mudroom. It is available in either pink or light blue. If you aren’t lucky enough to have a store near you, you can purchase one online at ikea.com.

Cariboo Classic Bassinet

Cariboo Classic Bassinet

Absolutely breathtaking, the Cariboo Classic Bassinet complements, rather than standing out among, your bedroom décor. With washable material and two wood finishes (teak or mahogany), it’s pretty, handy, and practical. Baby should be able to spend quite a bit of time in there, as it holds up to 22 pounds. The price of style is high, however, at $359.95 at thenaturalbabyco.com. The site suggests using it as a toy chest after baby no longer sleeps in it; not a bad idea and a good way to get bang for your buck!
