MOBOS

rightside7

I’ve just discovered a new product that I’m really anxious to try: MOBOS Modular Storage Units. These come in various shapes, sizes, and colors, and can be used for storage throughout the house: books, magazines, toys, diapering essentials, just about anything you can think of could be stored in MOBOS. The many unique styles, colors, and designs available allow you to coordinate with your room’s decor, and storage hooks and safety brackets are also sold with them to ensure proper, safe installation. They are eco-friendly as well, made of recycled steel and with non-toxic paint. What a unique, stylish storage solution. I can picture these in various rooms in our home right now. You can picture them yourself at ILoveMobos.com, where they sell for prices starting at $29.99 each.

Dwell Studio Home Storage Bins

Dwell Studio Home Storage Bins

These home storage bins from Dwell Studio are a great way to help keep the clutter in check. Available in several different patterns (that coordinate with other Dwell Studio products), these bins measure 15″ x 17″ x 15,” which is big enough to hold quite a few toys, shoes, or cold-weather accessories. These originally retailed for $80 each, but you can currently purchase one on sale for $64 at designpublic.com. Not all colors are on sale.

3 Sprouts Organic Elephant Storage Bin

It seems we never have enough storage spots for toys in our home. No matter how many bins, shelves, or boxes I accumulate, toys somehow still end up scattered on the floor of my son’s room or throughout our family room. Maybe if I bought a cute, kid-friendly storage bin, it would help my son get used to actually picking up his things and putting them away.

This one from 3 Sprouts might do the trick. The Elephant Storage Bin is made from organic cotton canvas with ecospun felt made from recycled water bottles - so it’s also a purchase that’s good for the planet, not just for my household! The bins come with elephant or owl applique on the front, and collapse when not in use. Standing 17″ high and with a 20″ diameter, it should be large enough to handle smaller toys (the ones that seem to scatter the most). You can purchase this cute, eco-friendly bin for $39 at artebebe.com.

Family Car Organizer by Tuffo

Family Car Organizer by Tuffo

I was horrified this morning when I saw the state of the inside of my car. It looked as if I had multiple children along with all their belongings stacked into my medium sized car, rather than just the one untidy toddler that I do have. We are planning a couple of long car trips this summer, and my son has a habit of throwing everything on the floor, so we’ve been looking for something to hold more than the backseat organizers.

The Family Car Organizer by Tuffo is the perfect product for keeping all the necessities packed away tidily. It is made of rugged vinyl so it can easily be wiped clean after use and the carry strap means you can take it in the house after use without any hassle. It consists of two drinks holders, eight side pockets, as well as removable and adjustable dividers to hold anything from toys, snacks, books, diapers, wipes, DVDs etc. It is also insulated to keep any drinks or food cool and fresh. The organizer anchors to a seatbelt so will safely stay in place during any journey.

One of the things I love most about this product (and yet it doesn’t show this in any of the pictures online) is the reinforced lid that you can use as a tabletop. It has raised sides so it would be perfect for any activity on the road. I have seen cheaper products on the market but this one really does seem to be worth the price and I’m hoping it will help keep my car more organized in the future. You can purchase one at LeapsAndBounds.com for $34.95.

Stroll Away by Metro Tots

Parents know that strollers can be bulky and hard to store when not in use. Even the most compact stroller that folds up can occupy too much space in a closet. That’s what inspired mom Mary Ann Schwanwede to design Stroll Away, the over-the-door stroller storage system. Made of heavy duty steel, Stroll Away is like a gigantic “hook” designed to slide over the door easily, and it folds flat when not in use. Marketed by Metro Tots, Stroll Away is adjustable to 9 different positions and said to fit most, if not all, stroller models. The company is currently working on creating a multi-stroller rack and a wall mount for the garage. You can purchase Stroll Away for $49.99 at MetroTots.com.

Ecotots Bonsai Book Caddy

Ecotots Bonsai Book Caddy

My twins are only ten months old now and they absolutely love to be read to, so I know when they get older, we must have some bookshelves in their room where they can keep their growing collection. This Bonsai book caddy by Ecotots would be perfect in any young kid’s room. It keeps a good number of books organized in a place that’s easily reachable for your little reader. I like the fact that it’s not a tall bookshelf and so you don’t have to worry about your toddler climbing up and accidentally falling. And since you don’t have to put it against a wall, those books can even be accessible from both sides. 100% formaldehyde-free, birch plywood, and finished with a non-toxic, water-based stain, it’s not only stylish but also environmentally sound. And unlike larger bookshelves, this one doesn’t require tools or hardware to be assembled, giving you more time to read a first book together.

Selling for $85, this is one of the new products featured on landofnod.com. Check it out today.

Hoohobbers Children’s Laundry Basket

Hoohobbers Children's Laundry Basket

I continue to be amazed by how much laundry my eight week old manages to generate on a daily basis. Although I don’t like the way it looks in her nursery, her messiness has necessitated a hamper. I just went with a natural linen one because it is the least distracting one I could find, but I would have loved to have had something that coordinates a little better with her furniture and bedding. If you are in a similar boat, or are still in the process of designing a nursery for your baby-to-be, you might consider these fun hampers from Hoohobbers. The design is simple, but the best part is that there are 35 different fabric options to choose from, so you can fairly easily customize the basket to fit your nursery. At $80, this product isn’t cheap, but it is a practical baby necessity that will get a lot of use. You can purchase one at luxurybabynursery.com. Your basket can be personlaized for an additional $12.

DEX Baby Diaper and Toiletries Organizer

DEX Baby Diaper and Toiletries Organizer

I just bought the DEX Baby Diaper and Toiletries Organizer on sale at Wal-Mart for $9, though I see it’s $14.88 on the site. While I am generally satisfied with it for holding stuffed animals I had no place for (need to get that husband of mine building some shelves!), I am discovering quickly that it is a little on the small side. I wanted to use it to store quite a bit more clothing that I can’t fit in the dresser but the compartments aren’t as deep as I had hoped they were. However, I have folded a few sweaters into it and the netted compartments are great for rattles and small stuffed friends (it is hanging off his crib, so I don’t want to put powders or creams within his reach.) It is made of sturdy material and attaches very easily to the crib (or change table, dresser, or wall) with strong Velcro loop or hook straps. You could really use it anywhere, including the baby’s room, bathroom, play room, or laundry room. I found it at WalMart.com.

TubTrugs Medium Storage Container

TubTrugs® Medium Storage Container

Originally we purchased this TubTrug to use in the garden and elsewhere in the house. It soon became obvious that this was a perfect storage container for toys, so we purchased another one to keep in our son’s room. It is great for gardening but I find it even better to throw toys in at the end of the day. It is made with durable plastic and has a flexible body with two sturdy handles, making it particularly easy to move around the house. We have this pistachio-colored one, but there are 15 different colors you can choose from and lots of different sizes.  Most storage designed specifically for children’s rooms seem to be too expensive, too small, or just not practical. This has been the first storage container that not only fits nicely in his room but can also hold a huge amount of toys.

This TubTrug is a medium 26 liter (6.8 gallons) one and is also frost and UV proof so it won’t fade if you keep it outside. It is also amazingly easy to clean. I definitely would recommend buying a few for storing toys. Then, when the children no longer need them, they have numerous other uses around the house and garden. You can find this one for $13.99 at TubTrugs.us

The Bertie Box by mod mom furniture

If you’re looking for an eco-friendly solution to keep your child’s toys organized, you might want to check out The Bertie Box. Made by Kiersten Hathcock of mod mom furniture, the box is made of baltic birch and birch plywood. It’s low to the ground, measuring 17 inches wide x 18 inches deep x 15.5 inches tall, and has casters to make it easier to move around. The interior is natural birch. The bird on the top has a wing cut-out which acts as the hand-held opening for lifting the lid. The entire box is coated with low voc, water-based polyurethane for sheen and protection. It’s so attractive, it might even inspire your children to put away their own toys!

Hathcock produces quality modern/mid-century style children’s furniture, inspired by her own kids’ wants and needs. She only uses eco- friendly birch plywood, non-toxic paints, water-based stains and low-voc, water-based finishes. You can view Hathcock’s beautiful furniture at modmomfurniture.com. To purchase her furniture, you can go to her Etsy shop at Etsy.com, where The Bertie Box sells for $299.

Pop-up Organizer by Sassy

Pop-up Organizer by Sassy

I love things that organize and make messy into neat. One of the daily chores I had when my three children were all toddlers was picking up their toys and such all around the house - everyday. I finally got the idea of having a few laundry baskets around the house just for tossing in toys, books, sweaters, etc. Later in the evening when the house was quiet, I could sort through one basket at a time. It saved time and energy during the day.

This colorful Pop-Up Organizer by Sassy would make a fun alternative to the old laundry basket — and it’s so much more attractive. Maybe it will attract your kids to pick up their toys and toss them in. Visit babyearth.com to view this item. It is priced at just $17.95.

Boon Bug Pod

This is such an innovative idea that when I saw it, I had to read more about it. The Boon Bug Pod looks like a toy but actually stores bath toys. It’s more than just a storage area, however. The pod has a drainable scoop to collect and rinse toys, plus a wall-mounted base to store them. You can use the enclosed adhesive strips or screws to mount the Boon Bug Pod to the wall. All of this will help to keep mold and mildew to a minimum, an important consideration when dealing with your child’s health and well-being while having fun in the bathtub.

The Boon Bug Pod seems like a vast improvement over the mesh bag that attaches to the bathtub wall with suction cups that I currently use to store bath toys, which is constantly falling off the wall. The Boon Bug Pod measures 11″ x 17″ x 7 1/2″ and sells for $35.99 at KangarooBoo.com.

Pottery Barn Kids Octagon Play Table & Storage Cubes

Octagon Play Table and Storage Cubes

This is a great table and chair set for kids because it’s at their height level and the “chairs” are low padded cubes (with inside storage just under the lids). This Octagon Play Table & Storage Cubes by Pottery Barn Kids has a solid wood frame with a chalkboard surface and a raised edge to keep chalk and toys in place. The play mat (sold separately) has a Chinese checkers board on one side and a traditional checkers board on the reverse side.

The table dimensions are 40×40x18.5″h. The Storage Cubes come in Orange, Red, Green and Navy. The table is priced separately at $149 and each of the Storage cubes is priced at $49 at PotteryBarnKids.com. This set is so attractive, not just to the eye, but it “attracts” family fun time together.

Bertie Toy Box

Here’s a cheerful and elegant way to keep your child’s toys organized and out of sight.  The Bertie Toy Box is the perfect height for a child–which increases the chances that your little one will actually pick up after herself.  Casters allow you to easily move the box from one room to another without a fuss, but lock in place for stability when the box is where you want it.

This gorgeous chest is made from eco-friendly birch playwood and non-toxic finishes.  The sweet bird design makes it extra special. It would look great in a bedroom, playrooom, or nursery, and would likely blend in well with other living spaces as well.  You can purchase one for $475 at moderntots.com.

Petite Planet Cambio Hobo Diaper Bag

This looks like the ultimate diaper bag to me. The Cambio Hobo Diaper Bag by Petite Planet is coated in teflon, to make it easy to wipe any messes off. It has functional outside pockets and includes a changing mat, wipes holder, diaper storage canvas, thermal bottle holder, cosmetic bag, and cell phone pocket, plus loads of space for diapers and anything else you might need to carry. It measures 11″ H x 17″ L x 4″ W. Not only will you look modern and trendy with this diaper bag, you’ll also have everything you need to take care of baby (and will be able to find it in this organized bag).

You can purchase the Cambio Hobo Diaper Bag by Petite Planet at AnnaBean.com, where it sells for $104.
