Innate Me-Me Stainless-Steel Sippy Cup

Innate Me-Me Stainless-Steel Sippy Cup

A lot of moms have really started to think twice about the cups we give our little ones lately. Between the news about BPA and a more general push for greener products, I know that I have been moving away from plastics as much as possible. We have a few stainless steel water bottles and really like them. While at first it seemed like a strange idea to me,  using one has shown me that it keeps water tasting great. I like the shape and color (appropriately known as Whirled Peas Green) of this cup from Innate Me-Me. It is attractive, easy for little hands to grip, and made from toxin-free and dishwasher-safe stainless steel.  It is 100% BPA free.  You can purchase one for $15 at REI.com. Pink and blue versions are also available. It’s great for on the go, too.

Skip Hop Table Fun Sea Critters Feeding Set

Skip Hop Table Fun Sea Critters Feeding Set

Skip Hop always delivers hip yet practical products for infants and toddlers that won’t destroy your budget.  Their Table Fun Feeding Sets are no exception.  Available in several fun designs, these sets include a plate, a bowl, a sippy cup, and a spoon and fork.  I particularly like this Sea Critters set, which is appropriate for either a boy or a girl.  The sea critters that decorate each piece are as cute as can be.  Designed by artist Eleanor Grosch, they are sure to delight your little diner. Everything is made from high-quality melamine, and is dishwasher safe for easy clean-up.

You can pick up one of these fun sets for $24 at MamasAndMunchkins.com.  It would also make a fun gift for an older infant or toddler.

Klean Kanteen Sippy

Klean Kanteen Sippy

This Klean Kanteen Sippy is an alternative to sippy cups made from materials that are made from polypropylene plastic (pp#5) which have a tendency to leach out. The Klean Kanteen is made from stainless steel and is toxin free. Drinking water from a stainless steel Klean Kanteen sippy cup will taste clean and odor free for your child. I admit they’re a little unusual looking (I thought they were finger paint containers) but they’re designed for safety and use by toddlers. The reusable, lightweight 12oz stainless steel bottle is made especially for small hands.

It comes with a sippy adapter made from safe, non leaching polypropylene plastic (pp#5) and 2 spouts. Simply replace the sippy cup adapter with a flat cap, loop cap, or a sport drinking cap as your child grows out of the sippy cup stage.

The Klean Kanteen Sippy measures 5″ H x 2.75″ W (without cap) and holds 12 fluid ounces. The cup weighs 4oz and costs $19.95 at naturalpod.com.

Thermos Foogo Toddler Cup

Thermos Foogo Toddler Cup

I just bought the Thermos Foogo sippy cup earlier this week at Target, and was so pleased with it that I went back yesterday and bought a second one for my daughter to use at daycare. While the shape and function of this cup make it immediately recognizable as a sippy cup, there are some significant differences. The most important is that it is made from stainless steel, so it is BPA free. That was what drew me to it in the first place.

On top of that, it keeps beverages cooler (and therefore safer) longer. This makes it ideal for travel. The design is also eye-catching. My daughter picked out the pink and purple one, but I actually like the blue and yellow version better.

We’ve only been using it for a few days, but so far it seems to be working out quite well. I think I am going to do away with our more traditional sippies. At $14.39, this costs a bit more, but it is well worth every penny. I also like that I can easily buy it at a store instead of special ordering online and waiting for delivery. If the cup isn’t available in your area, you can buy on at target.com.

The Thermos Foogo sippy cup was also reviewed at the Bloggin’ Mama Blog.
