I’m getting ready to pack away our Bumbo seat and I realized that we have never discussed this popular product on the blog. What an oversight!

This unique foam seat was just hitting massive popularity when my three year old was an infant. We have now used it with two kids and have had a fairly positive experience with it.  Both of my girls have been relatively happy in this seat, which allows them to sit up before they are ready to sit up on their own. The downsides are that it is a little difficult to clean because it is so porous, and that it gets a little scary once kids can move a little more. We have had to put it away because my daughter was on the verge of escaping from it by around 5 months. As I was browsing the Internet, this rocker caught my eye. I like the shape and color, which would be attractive to children and looks to be ergonomically correct for their posture and comfort. As I read further, I saw that the Hiya Rocker is a functional piece of furniture as well. It has a book bin in the back to store books, toys, coloring books, crayons, art gear, remote controls for games, anything you can think of that your child might need while sitting in the Hiya Rocker. It also has an extra-wide seat in case two children want to sit together to read or color. This would look great in a child’s bedroom or even in a family room.

I’m not too sure about this piece of furniture. The Olga Rocker, designed by Sirch of Germany, is a very unique, unusual, modern slant on a child’s rocker. It is made of a continuous piece of bent birch wood and has a seat made of red woven fabric. It is supposed to be more comfortable than other rockers because of the open space in front. The rocker weighs 10 lbs.

I like that this picture of the Elise Chaise Lounge includes children because, as a mom, if I had a chaise lounge in my bedroom, I know that my children would lounging on it too. I am very impressed by this Frog Bean Bag Chair from 3 Sprouts.  This soft little seat is the perfect place to cuddle up with a good book or settle down to watch a movie.  It is made from soft corduroy, so it is much more comfortable than the vinyl bean bag chairs I remember from my childhood.  It is a lot cuter too–I love the hip design which is just odd enough that it is absolutely adorable.  My kids would love this–if only we had room for it.

I really like the idea of a Time Out Rocker but I’ve yet to put it to the test. Does it make a difference having a designated seat to go with the designated time-out spot? I think it might, in a positive way. It would be a constant reminder to your child that there are consequences, and that’s a very valuable lesson to learn for any of us. The natural rocking motion may also help to soothe nerves. You might like to place a basket or small shelf near the chair with books that teach lessons or books of children’s poetry, or even a journal. Encourage your child to express himself in all situations.

One of the best purchases I made when my son was smaller is this Cooshee Booster Seat made by BabySmart. This booster seat is soft and comfortable, unlike the hard plastic booster seats of yesteryear. It is made of a special molded foam that fits to the child and helps the seat stay in place. The seat is also ribbed, which also helps to keep it from sliding (or your child from sliding off).

We used this constantly during travel - to restaurants, friends’ homes, and relatives’ homes. I much preferred using my own, clean booster seat to one of the plastic, grungy ones in a restaurant.
