Our older children received stainless steel water bottles for Christmas. So far, they seem to be getting a lot of use. Marty is a friendly, if a little goofy stuffed friend from Ingri. Handmade in the USA, this toy is constructed of naugahyde and can be wiped clean. He is definitely unique–which is nice in a sea of highly commercial stuffed animals. Although designed for older children (the recommendation is ages 6 and up), I think he would be a great decoration in a younger child’s modern bedroom. My mother is a children’s librarian, and Good Boy Fergusis one of her favorite picture books. Subsequently, my children have enjoyed it as well. A colleague of mine introduced me to mamabargains.com, a Web site that offers a variety of unpredictable deals. The site works differently than most retail sites. Only one deal is offered at a time and until it sells out. Items sell for 50-80% off of original retail. You must log in several times a day to see all of the offerings, which can make it either fun or frustrating, depending on how you look at it. So far, I haven’t seen any deals that I can’t live without, but I now know others who are hooked. You can check out the deals at mamabargains.com.

Here are some very cute socks that are currently on sale as part of the Gap Holiday sale. There is just something about the shape and color of these socks that appeals to me. I was just thinking the other day that my four year old needs a robe. We usually don’t seem to be home enough to use one, but I’ve been home for the last few weeks, and she has taken to lounging about in her pajamas during the day. Pottery barn Kids is currently having their annual Happy Holiday Sale. You can find many items that are on sale for up to 75% off their original price. I have found some great deals at this sale in the past. Once, for example, I bought what I thought was a felt tree house with fairies. It turns out that it was just the tree house, and the fairies were sold separately, and sold out. I may not have any little boys, but I still enjoy checking out the fashions available for them now and then.
