Recycled Fleece Smittens

Recycled Fleece Smittens

These Recycled Fleece Smittens are just in time for the cold weather, especially if you take your family up to mountains to see the snow. We city dwellers in the southwestern part of the country aren’t always fortunate enough to have snow falling in our front yards. So every year at this time we gather everyone into the family car and we’re off to see snow. Now these Smittens are something I’ve never seen before. The set includes a child-size mitten and an adult size mitten and one mitten that they both can share.

Visit uncommongoods.com to order your pair for $35. Available colors are Blue and Red. Enjoy the Holidays!

Preserve Jr Toothbrush by Recycline

Recycline has come up with a way to encourage your child to brush her teeth while saving wildlife at the same time. Designed for children ages 2 to 8, the Preserve Jr. has an ergonomically shaped handle to fit young hands, and soft bristles to protect young teeth. The handle is made from 100% recycled plastic, some of it from Stonyfield Farms plastic yogurt cups. The company even provides a postage-paid label that you can mail the toothbrush back to them to be recycled when your child is finished with it.

Recycline also supports the National Wildlife Foundation and endangered species through the sales of the Preserve Jr. toothbrush. You can read more about these causes at Recycline.com. There is a nice subscription option at the website, in which the company mails you one toothbrush every 3 months for a total of 4 a year, for $11. The company is currently out of the toothbrushes until December, but for now, you can view the various toothbrushes and options available at Recycline.com. This is a wonderful way to teach your child about the importance of recycling as well.

Recycled Sweater Stuffed Animals by Wild Things

Recycled Sweater Stuffed Animals

Besides being cute, soft, and cuddly, these Stuffed Animals are made from recycled sweaters. It’s never too early to teach our children to care about the environment! Being environmentally aware should be a part of all of our lives just the same way that we learn to treat others as we would have them treat us and ours.

If you give these Recycled Sweater Stuffed Animals by Wild Things as a gift it might be fun to wrap them in recycled paper or bags made from recycled paper. Add a note that describes how these environmentally friendly designs are handmade by a New England handicapped artist collective and that each animal is unique since it’s handcrafted from recycled materials. This is a truly “unique” one-of-a-kind gift that could easily become a keepsake.

The stuffed animals measure: Elephant: 10″ L x 6″ W x 6.5″ H; lion: 7″ L x 8″ W x 6.5″ H

Although they were available for $26 at UncommonGoods, this item is no longer available.

Recycled Plastic Sand Play Set by Green Toys

Recycled Plastic Sand Play Set

If you’ve visited the beaches this summer, you know that you are more than likely to see signs of human impact on the environment: disposable diapers, plastics, aluminum cans, etc. scattered along the beach or washed up in the waves. You have to drive well out of your way to find a “clean” beach for your children to play on. It can be discouraging but one thing we can do, and teach our children to do, is to use products that are trying to not be part of the problem.

This Recycled Plastic Sand Play set by Green Toys is made from 100% recycled plastics, and is phthalate free and BPA free. The bucket and shovels are not fancy or brightly colored, they don’t sparkle or make musical sounds - but on a sandy beach, all your child needs and wants are the tools to let his imagination build.

The Sand Play Set includes:
1 Bucket
1 Sand castle mold
1 Shovel
1 Rake

You can buy a set for $16.98 at KangarooBoo.com
