Carriage Boutique Take Me Home Preemie Gown & Hat

9-9-09-4

Parents of babies who are preemies are often more concerned about their new baby’s health than what outfit to take them home from the hospital in, when that time comes. Often their options are limited. Now, however, they have some choices. AvaBaby’s specializes in clothing of all kinds for preemies. I really like this Take Me Home Preemie Gown & Hat by Carriage Boutique. Both are adorned with a train carrying white teddy bears and ABC blocks, and made of 100% cotton. They fit babies from 4 to 6 lbs. You can purchase this cute outfit for $32 at AvaBabys.com, where you can also view the wide variety of clothes available for premature babies.

Early Bird Preemie Onesie by Urban Baby Runway

Early Bird Preemie Onesie

While premature births are hardly a laughing matter, it is hard not to smile when you see this sweet preemie gown. Made from 100% cotton and dyed with non-toxic ink, this gown is designed especially for “early birds.” It is definitely a sweet way to commemorate those early days, and would make a wonderful keepsake once the little one outgrows it. The gown style simplifies diaper changes, too.  You can purchase one on sale for $12.99 at urbanbabyrunway.com. It would make a great going home outfit or a thoughtful gift for parents of a preemie.

Kumquat Preemie-Newborn Stitched Flowers Kimono Set

Kumquat Preemie-Newborn Stitched Flowers Kimono Set

All of my babies have been full term, but the largest of the three was just over seven pounds. I have therefore been very glad to have a few preemie outfits for them to wear in the early days.  With most of the major children’s clothing companies now making clothes in preemie sizes, it isn’t hard to find cute outfits.  Every once in a while, though, something catches my eye because it looks a little bit different from what I’m used to seeing.  This outfit from Kumquat definitely falls into this category.  I love the fact that it uses such bold colors–reds, pinks, and greens, rather than the muted tones that seem to dominate a lot of preemie clothes.  I’m always a fan of these kimono two piece sets early on.  Our newborn pretty much lives in them because they are so much easier to get on and off.

This outfit is made in the USA from 100% cotton.  It features a wrap front that snaps closed (much easier than fussing with ties), a ribbed collar and cuffs, and sweet lettuce edges on the hemline of the pants.  This outfit will definitely make your little one stand out.  You can purchase it for $50 at BestDressedKids.com.

Sweet Santa Booties by Preemie-Yums

Sweet Santa Booties by Preemie-Yums

Here is a holiday accessory that even the tiniest baby can enjoy.  Available in either newborn or 0-3 month sizes, these Sweet Santa Booties by Preemie-Yums are sure to delight.  They are made from super-soft red velour with sherpa cuffs and pom poms on the toes.  They are machine washable and NICU-approved, so even a preemie can share in the festivities.

You can purchase a pair on sale for $7.95 at NurturePlace.com.  They would make a very thoughtful gift, too.

Kumquat Elliot Elephant Kimono Set

Kumquat Elliot Elephant Kimono Set

I’m still trying to adjust myself to the possibility that I may be carrying a boy after two girls. I’ve been trying to start a shopping list in case that information is confirmed in the next few weeks. I have a lot of trouble finding clothes for boys that I like. Luckily, there are a few things out there that really capture my attention, like this Elliot Elephant Kimono Set from Kumquat.

There are several things to love about this cotton outfit. The first is that the print is absolutely adorable. I love the color scheme of green and brown on white, and the print itself is incredibly cute. In the early days, I also much prefer shirt and pant outfits over sleepers. They are easy to change, and if, like me, you tend to have small babies, you can roll up the legs and sleeves so they actually fit. The kimono snaps on the top also promises to be easy to get on and off.

Another great thing about this set is that it comes in a number of sizes, from Preemie all the way up to 9 mos. Best of all, it is currently on sale. You can buy the set for $29.99 at Snapdragonsbaby.com. A matching beanie and blanket are also available.
