If Mom or Dad is/was a Trekkie, they’ll appreciate these Star Trek Uniform onesies. Available in grey, indigo, gold, and red, the onesies feature snap-bottom closure for easy diaper access. They are available in sizes from 6 to 18 months for $15.99 each (sizes run small, so if you’re ordering for a baby under 6 months, they recommend ordering the 6 month size) at ThinkGeek.com. Great gift for a new Trekkie parent!

INKtastic.com specializes in personalized clothing for all ages. Lots of companies nowadays offer personalized clothing, but the quality isn’t always great. I’ve received some clothing from INKtastic.com and I can vouch that their clothing is soft and of great quality. Their onesies are made of 100% combed ringspun cotton with flatlock seams, and double-needle ribbed binding on neck, shoulders, sleeves and leg opening. The reinforced three-snap closure at the crotch looks as if it won’t easily wear out, either. I particularly like this design for Thanksgiving, which can also be personalized by adding baby’s name. At a price of just $9.99, they’re very affordable, too. You can view all of the options available at INKtastic.com.

A friend recently told me about Squishy Fish onesies. She said they are “incredibly soft” and I think they’re cute to boot. Totally friendly to either gender and easy to match to (jeans, brown pants, blue pants, red pants, etc. etc.), I’m having a hard time picking a favorite. However, have a look at the Squishy Fish onesie. Adorned with a cute fish for $26 in sizes 3-6 m and up, I like the long-sleeve version for $28. You’ll find it at the eco-friendly squishyfish.ca.

These Baby Personal Ads Onesies by Haute Stuff are so unique and cute, they would make a great gift for a new parent. I particularly like this one: “Are You Play Group Material?” All of these onesies are available in a wide variety of colors appropriate for boys or girls and in styles ranging from onesie to t-shirt to diaper cover. A short-sleeve onesie sells for $30 and comes in sizes 3 to 36 months at HauteStuffLA.com.

The set would also make a great gift for anyone expecting twins.

Sometimes it takes a parent to come up with a great idea for a new baby product. That is the case with Little Extensions. Creator Franca Caradonna wanted to extend the life of some of her favorite baby onesies, and she hand-made the first Little Extensions to make onesies a bit longer. The idea took off, and became a hit across her native Australia and beyond. She’s designed Little Extensions to work with a variety of popular brands of onesies, including those from Baby Target and Carter Baby. One packet of three extensions sells for $10.95 AUD (approx. $8.65 USD), a real bargain in terms of the life extension it should provide on baby’s onesies. Shipping is available worldwide; Caradonna just recommends checking the brands of onesies that Little Extensions will work with before ordering.

I’ve been trying to take advantage of the long weekend to clean out closets and drawers. As I was packing away all the onesies my little one has outgrown, I was thinking how ironic it was that our favorites turned out to be some of the least expensive. We have quite a few different brands: Gerber, Carter’s, Circo (Target), and Old Navy to name a few. The Gerber ones were hands down our favorite, which I guess shouldn’t be surprising since they are the original “Onesie.” They are soft, stretchy, and fit wonderfully. We have both the organic and regular versions, and both are great. The Old Navy ones we have are very thin and completely stretched out at the neck and lost their shape after a few washings. The Target brand are very soft, but don’t have quite as much stretch and are a little wider than necessary. The Carter’s are similar to the Gerber ones, but cost quite a bit more.
I am willing to spend quite a bit on children’s clothes, but not so much on underwear that gets stained on a regular basis. For this reason, I would highly recommend the Gerber onesies. I bought most of ours at Target, but I think you can buy them at most similar stores as well. You can check out all Gerber’s products, and print some coupons at GerberChildrenswear.com.

I am absolutely smitten with this set of onesies. The three piece set is staggered to grow with your baby. It includes a 3-6 month lamb onesie, a 6-9 month pig onesie, and a 9-12 month chicken onesie. All are 100% cotton and adorable. If my baby weren’t already too big for the first one, I’d snap them up in a heartbeat. They are perfect stand-alone pieces for summer, or they could easily be layered under or over warmer clothes in cool weather. You can purchase this fabulous set for $36 at myretrobaby.com. It is marketed for girls, but I think a boy could carry it off as well. The set would make a very thoughtful gift.

Cozmotot currently has its Zodiac Onesies on sale for $14 (regularly $22). I’m not really into astrology; in fact, I had to Google Zodiac Signs to find out what sign my son is (he’s Pisces, like the photo from Cozmotot shown above). The recipe on the Pisces onesie is pretty accurate for him, however: “Equal parts friendly, easygoing, and generous; a jigger of dreamer, all shaken up together for the most popular potion in the ocean.” If you like astrology, it might be fun to find your own baby’s recipe on Cozmotot.com. They would also make a great gift.

Fresh Heir produces 100% organic cotton onesies printed with a natural ink-based silkscreening that uses a chemical free clean-up process. Their whimsical designs include Imagine (shown above), Einstein, and star. The onesies are available in sizes from 3 to 12 months and sell for $22. You can view the entire line of Fresh Heir onesies at FreshHeir.com.

Not only do I love organic clothing for its texture and durability but I love clothing that is both organic and made to fit over cloth diapers. The Parade Organic Rompers Pure Collection is on sale for $19.60 (down from $28.99) in sizes 12-18 months. Fruity colors, wonderful for either boys or girls, still offered are bright shades of green, yellow, and turquoise with adorable front pockets. The neckline (in a contrasting cream color) makes getting baby in and out easier. Match to cute shoes and a cap and you’ve got an outfit for really any occasion. From LittleBundles.ca.

As warm weather approaches, moms everywhere are looking for simple, lightweight clothing for their babies. Onesies are a wonderful option because they help protect against diaper leaks, while leaving baby’s legs free to kick. They are also a great way to keep little ones from overheating. That said, fashion-conscious moms don’t want their babies going out in just any onesie!
These wildlife onesies from K.C. Fuzzy are a great option for either boys or girls. They feature detailed drawings by artist Katie Convington, and are made of 100% cotton. Available in 3 month, 6 month, and 12 month sizes, they retail for $28 each and come beautifully packaged for gift-giving. You can purchase one at kcfuzzy.com.

I saw these great onesies from Tiny Sprouts last spring and loved them. The nature designs are just so crisp and colorful. Now this year I actually have a little one to put in one. While the price is higher than that of many onesies, this one can really stand alone as an outfit because it is both practical and attractive. It would work well for us because our baby loves to kick her legs around. At 4 months, is just starting to be able to move herself around a bit. I find she is happiest when she has the fewest clothes on because she can propel herself with her legs. Cute onesies like these ones are a great option. I love both designs–the pea pod and the poppy. Both are available in sizes from 3-6 up to 18-24 months. You can purchase one for $24 at chasing-fireflies.com. It would make a great baby shower gift.
