I remember receiving a mug of my own for Christmas one year as a small child and feeling especially grown up and important. I still have that mug somewhere, too. So far, my older daughter has been less than impressed when similarly gifted, but I hold out hope for my other two. I’m thinking about this cute little mouse mug for my soon-to-be four-year-old. I’m always impressed by Haba’s quality, and the design on this mug is as sweet as can be. I’m confident it will be a hit. You can purchase one of these child-sized mugs for $8.99 at oompa.com .

My middle daughter, who just turned three, is starting to transition away from sippy cups. Although it is nice not to have to keep track of lids and seals, her desire to drink messy beverages such as hot chocolate from a mug can be a bit messy to say the least. She just isn’t entirely ready for a heavy, adult mug, and her attempts to deal with a cumbersome mug have led to more than a few disasters.
That’s why I was drawn to this Monkey Tail Mug from Cram Cream. Made to appeal to children, it features a vintage-inspired picture of a monkey, with red cherries and a momma monkey (whose tail forms the handle of the mug). The end result is a sweet little cup that any child will be proud to use. It’s child-friendly design makes it easy to use, too. While it won’t protect you from messes like a sippy cup, it will go a long way in encouraging your child’s independence as he or she grows up.
