Noodles Kids is a line of babies’ and childrens’ accessories that are hand made in Peru, from 100% Peruvian cotton and accented with felt, appliques and embroideries. Their hats have some unique features, including paw shaped ear muffs attached to hats, warm scarves that button, and daisy shaped ear muffs. After designer Adrienne Myles visit to Peru, she was touched by the desperate need of Peruvian children for food, shelter, and money, and saw children selling items on the street at 2 a.m. This inspired the Noodles Kids line, which is currently showcased on NoodlesKids.com, where retail and sales rep info is also available.

New from fair trade favorite Yellow Label Kids, this octopus toy is a great toy for curious little ones. Made by hand in Bangladesh, it features eight silly striped legs, giant eyes, and a big smile. This little guy is surface washable only, however, so he made need to stay at home for some of your child’s adventures. You can purchase one for $36.99 at oompa.com . It would make a great new baby gift, too.

A friend of mine makes knitted toys and I think her collection is adorable and really creative. Her daughter is surrounded in toys made from her mother’s love, even colorful stacking blocks, but if you’re like me, you don’t know how to knit so you can’t do the same for your little ones. What can you do but cheat by buying cute, knitted, eco-friendly toys on Etsy.com?
I found a matching set in Turtle and Baby Socks by seller ShaynaLove. The turtle is made up of non-allergenic stuffing and is totally washable. The socks are very stretchy but are considered to be size one. I think besides being a great buy for both dresser and toy box, this will make a perfect shower gift. For only $14.99, you can’t beat the gorgeous colors and lovely craftsmanship.

Too many times the toy hammers and other toys available these days prove to be dangerous to your child, other children, or furniture in your home. This knitted tool set by San Francisco based company Yellow Label Kids is a safe and cute alternative to those harder plastic tool sets available on the market today. I like the fact that I could give this toy to my twins and not be worried about them causing each other any damage—a bang on the head from this hammer would do no harm. What’s great is that the set of three toys even comes in a denim fabric tool pouch, complete with belt. And because it’s a Yellow Label Kids product, you can rest assured that it was completely handmade 100% sweatshop-free and of all-natural renewable materials.
This product can be found on various websites, but the cheapest I’ve found it so far is for $28.99 on MoosekissToys.com. Buy one today and before you know it your son or daughter may be well on the road to being a little handier around the house.

I’m a bit of an evil mother because our vegetarianism keeps my kids from ever having the Easter favorite Peeps (or anything else made from marshmallows). Luckily, this “Marshmallow” Bunny Set from Yellow Label Kids is vegetarian approved. It is also adorably cute. I would much rather fill my kids’ baskets with fun, eco-friendly finds than candy anyway. This set includes three cute little bunnies in bright spring colors in a crocheted basket. These little guys are knit by hand using Fair Trade labor. Even the youngest child will enjoy taking these cute toys out of the basket and packing them back in again. Older children can use them as play food/candy for imaginative play. They will look great popping out of an Easter basket, and they won’t cause cavities. You can purchase the set for $26.99 at oompa.com.

No little girl’s kitchen is complete without her homemade cupcakes. Good enough to eat the soft texture of these cupcakes make them just right for little hands. This set of four brightly colored knitted cupcakes come complete with icing and sprinkles, as well as removable wrappers and a little box, making them an ideal gift. Perfect to serve their little guests at a tea party! Cupcakes with a conscience – these are handmade in Bangladesh by a Fair Trade Company who ensure their craftspeople receive fair pay for their work and have safe and healthy working conditions. You can purchase these at ThreeSistersToys.com for $31.99
