This illustration print by etsy artist Tamara Garvey is cute enough to hang in baby’s nursery or a child’s room. “The Chicken Says Cluck” is a whimsical way to decorate your little one’s room, and educational at the same time. The ink and Photoshop illustration is archivally printed onto matte, acid-free card stock, and shipped in a waterproof cellophane sleeve, sandwiched between pieces of thick non-bending cardboard. A perfect gift for new parents, this 8.5″ x 11″ print can be bought for $9 at etsy.com: seller: tamaragarvey.

Abby’s Garden Canvas Reproduction by Liz Murphy

Decorating a child’s room with art can be a daunting task, seeing as you want to choose the right pieces for the right prices. I absolutely think the wall décor at KidsDecor.net is lovely and was attracted to several works right away. The Abby’s Garden Canvas Reproduction would fit perfectly into a baby girl’s nursery. I’d paint the walls a soft, muted green, add little flower decorations here and there and put in a pink or yellow crib bedding set to match. Last of all, hang the 18 x 22 print, which is printed on canvas and stretched over wood just as the original is. This gorgeous work of art can delight your child for $149.00.  There are corresponding dresser knobs available on the site as well.

However, if you’re like me, you prefer to save a few bucks here and there. We had to re-do our son’s entire nursery, including ripping out the walls, reinsulating, rewiring, and putting in new drywall. I chose to visit my nearest dollar store to purchase acrylic paint and three canvasses. I had brushes at home but if you don’t, they have those in the craft section as well. I found pictures I liked online (one of a bird, one of an owl) and drew them onto the canvas. I then painted them in colors that coordinated with the room, wrote out a poem I liked about birds on the other canvas, and had myself nursery artwork. I achieved this for under $5. Later, when my son wants to decorate his own space, I won’t have to worry about reselling or donating expensive pieces. However nice and meaningful though, I must admit my paintings can never have the dynamic look of those at Kid’s Décor.
