I bought a clothes tree for my oldest daughter’s room when she was a toddler, mainly because it matched the rest of her furniture, but it has turned out to be extremely useful. As you child grows and begins to collect an assortment of sun hats, baseball caps, backpacks, etc., it becomes necessary to have an easy way to keep them organized and off of the floor. A clothes tree is a perfect solution that allows you to display these items in a cute and tidy fashion.
This clothes tree from New Arrivals is a very sweet option. Available in colors that will suit a nursery, but grow with your child, it offers four pegs for hanging articles of clothing, bags, etc. The top is perfect for all of those hats. New Arrivals has earned a reputation for high-quality, attractive nursery furniture and bedding with celebrity parents such as Jennie Garth, Sean Combs, Julia Roberts, and Marcia Cross, so you know you will be pleased with your purchase.
You can purchase one of these practical pieces of furniture for $90 at 2sweetsisters.com.

This Travel Baby quilt from Pitter Patter Collections is both pretty and practical. Made to match Pitter Patter’s Jasmine line of nursery bedding, this quilt is slightly smaller than an average crib quilt, measuring 36″ x 36″ square. It is therefore perfect for babies who are on the go–you can take it to daycare, Grandma’s house, throw it in the pack-n-play, etc.
The quilt is made from a gorgeous pink paisley print with a whimsical elephant square in the center. The elephant has a great vintage appeal that looks like something from my own babyhood in the 70s. The combination of these prints is eye-catching and unique. It is not surprising that celebrities such as Denise Richards, Julia Roberts, and Courteney Cox-Arquette are all fans of the company’s designs.
You can purchase this great quilt for $79 at StellaMaternity.com. Additional items from the Jasmine line are also available.

Mamma’s Milk has sold its famous baby carriers/baby slings to celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, and Naomi Watts. This particular design is promoted as a “fabulous combination of function and style.”
At one time, the baby carrier was considered to be a novelty item. Now, it’s become a must-have accessory for all parents, not just celebrities. Mamma’s Milk offers its baby carriers and slings in many fabrics and colors, ranging in price from $45.00 to $85.00. You can view the many styles available and photos of celebrities who have purchased them at MammasMilk.com

Many hip celebrity moms such as Debra Messing and Julia Roberts are sporting lockets designed by Jill Alberts Jewelry. These one of a kind lockets are a perfect way to keep your child close to you at all times. I’ve never been a huge jewelry fan, but I definitely see the appeal of a piece like this. They truly are gorgeous, and as a working mother I love the idea of being able to access a treasured keepsake at all times.
You can view the selection of lockets at jillalberts.com. The Vintage locket shown retails for $450.

Pediped is one of the biggest names in children’s shoes at the moment. Strangely enough, I have yet to purchase any for our family. After stumbling upon this pair of pink flower Mary Jane shoes, however, that is about to change. I love the design of these shoes. The cheerful flower print would coordinate well with a lot of the clothes in my daughter’s wardrobe.
Made of 100% leather, Pedipeds are made to be soft and cushion growing feet. There are tons of styles to choose from for both boys and girls. Their cool styles and high-quality construction have made them a favorite with celebrity parents such as Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, and Denise Richards.
You can buy this particular pair for $38 at shopkitson.com.

If you are tired of trying to find room for a blanket in your diaper bag, you might want to check out this innovative product from Chic Tots. This hip bag, which is available in a number of trendy prints, converts into a soft minky blanket that works as a playmat or changing pad. You can pack up all your little one’s things in the bag, then open it up for play time when you reach your destination. Best of all, you can throw the whole thing in the washer when it needs to be cleaned. The dimensions, when unfolded as a blanket are 29” x 38”. You can buy one for $70 at chictots.com, and join the ranks of Chic Tots fans such as Jennifer Garner and Julia Roberts.

Zutano clothing is too cute. They have bold prints with whimsical fun designs. Their Big Dot Chocolate pattern is a stand out on either a boy or a girl. The polka dots are chocolate, red, blue, and orange and come in a variety of different mix and match outfits. Zutano is not only stylish but also soft and durable for baby. I really like the way they look and my son loves the way the 100% cotton feels. Zutano is a favorite of Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Garner and Kate Hudson. You can find Zutano at many baby boutiques and zutano.com.

This line of luxury bedding is a favorite with a number of celebrities including Courtney Cox Arquette and Julia Roberts. The Jasmine Set shown definitely caught my eye as I was browsing Pitter Patter’s Web site. It includes four bumpers designed with zippered slipcovers for easy washing, a Tummy Time blanket, a crib sheet, and a crib skirt. The crib sheet has four-sided elastic for safety. The matching pillows can be purchased separately. The printed fabrics used to make the set are 100% cotton. The set costs $529. You can purchase it and browse the many other eye-catching designs at www.pitterpattercollections.com.

If you are looking for a compromise between cloth diapers and traditional disposables, you might want to take a closer look at Seventh Generation’s Chlorine-Free diapers. The inner absorbent core is made from non-toxic materials designed to be better for the environment and gentle for a baby’s sensitive skin. I have been less than enthusiastic about other environmentally-friendly disposables in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried these. They are well-designed, so they fit my daughter very well. Like the major brands, they have gathered legs and re-sealable tabs. This brand has become a favorite with earth-minded celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Michelle Williams, and Gwyneth Paltrow. At $51.89 for a case, these are only slightly more expensive than less Earth-conscious brands. You can buy them at drugstore.com.

As a nursing mother, I was very fortunate to have a flexible job and daycare close enough that I could nurse my little one several times a day. Even so, it was always necessary to pump. I don’t know how I would have survived without my Medela. The Pump in Style Advanced is very effective, easy to use, and relatively quiet (a definite plus when you have to pump in your office). The parts are easy to clean and the bottles that come with it are BPA-free, so there is one less thing to worry about. This pump is definitely the pump for working mothers. It comes with a great carrying case which keeps everything together in one place and even has a little photo frame built in so you can look at a picture of your baby while you pump. It comes with a removable cooler. You can plug it in or run it on battery power. Jennifer Garner and Julia Roberts are just a few of the celebrity moms who rely on this pump.

Nursing covers have come a long way since I had my first daughter. My simple chambray nursing canopy from back then looks so old fashioned next to all of the fun nursing covers on the market today. One of the most fashionable and popular nursing covers out there is from Bebe Au Lait (the same company also makes the equally popular Hooter Hiders covers). Gwen Stefani, Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler, and Julia Roberts all own Bebe Au Lait products. The fabrics are so stunning that it is hard to pick a favorite; organic fabrics are available as well. Of course, the downside if you are nervous to nurse in public is that you will get a lot of attention as you sport one of these stunning covers. I never had a lot of luck getting either of my daughters to nurse under a cover, but I know many women who do. If you and your little one are so inclined, you can buy one for $35 at bebeaulait.com.

This cute line of clothing for infants, toddlers, and expectant parents manages to be quirky without being obnoxious. There are a number of great designs to choose from. Some of my favorites include “Confucius Says: Drool is the nectar of knowledge,” and “Treats will come to those who behave.” Perhaps the best part about these clothes is the packaging. They come packed in Chinese food containers. You can even buy gift sets such as the Kung Pao Combo, which includes a baby shirt and pants of your choice. The company bill’s itself as “Hollywood’s Hottest Gift to Go,” and certainly it has developed a famous following. Julia Roberts bought these shirts for her twins, and Heidi Klum has sported one of their maternity shirts. All products are made from boutique quality cotton. An infant shirt retails for $22. You can place your own takeout order at fortuneteeshirt.com.

I haven’t been particularly pleased with either of the baby books that I have for my girls. I’m not in love with the way they look, or the way they are organized. Maybe that is why I just keep jotting things down on the calendar and telling myself I will get my notes transferred to the baby books one of these days! This has made me curious about what alternatives there are to these very traditional books. A little research reveals that one of the hottest baby books out there at the moment is this book made by Baby Feats. What makes this book unique is that it is made with a Baltic birch cover, which is available in pink, blue, yellow, or natural wood versions. It was featured on the CBS Early Show and is popular with celebrity parents, including Julia Roberts. While the outside of the book is innovative, the inside is fairly traditional, including pages for a family tree, and important firsts such as first bath, first picture, etc. Overall, this is a very sweet baby book, but it doesn’t wow me. You can buy one of these books for $60 at babybox.com.
