This is one of the toys my younger daughter received for her first birthday.  We have really gotten a  lot of use out of it.  In fact, my older daughter has always enjoyed it too.  The toy is brightly-colored, so it instantly draws a young child’s attention.

Unlike most other jack-in-the-box toys, it is covered in cushioned fabric, so it is soft to the touch.  Kids don’t need to have highly-developed fine motor skills to work this toy either.  There is no need for winding.  You simply push the doll down into the toy, close the lid, and when you open it back up, he pops out with a friendly squeak.
