I’ve been trying to take advantage of the long weekend to clean out closets and drawers. As I was packing away all the onesies my little one has outgrown, I was thinking how ironic it was that our favorites turned out to be some of the least expensive. We have quite a few different brands: Gerber, Carter’s, Circo (Target), and Old Navy to name a few. The Gerber ones were hands down our favorite, which I guess shouldn’t be surprising since they are the original “Onesie.” They are soft, stretchy, and fit wonderfully. We have both the organic and regular versions, and both are great. The Old Navy ones we have are very thin and completely stretched out at the neck and lost their shape after a few washings. The Target brand are very soft, but don’t have quite as much stretch and are a little wider than necessary. The Carter’s are similar to the Gerber ones, but cost quite a bit more.
I am willing to spend quite a bit on children’s clothes, but not so much on underwear that gets stained on a regular basis. For this reason, I would highly recommend the Gerber onesies. I bought most of ours at Target, but I think you can buy them at most similar stores as well. You can check out all Gerber’s products, and print some coupons at GerberChildrenswear.com.

If you’re a fan of Gerber baby wear, you’ll like Netkidswear.com . They’ve got tons of great products at great prices, and several other brands, like Spencer and Carter’s, at sale prices as well. The best deal I found was the Everyday Essentials 6-Pack Vinyl Pants by Gerber for $3.97, down from $10. Though there are only Size Small Pink ones left, if you’ve got girls, grab ‘em up. I never find small sizes, so these are really a steal.
Gerber Vinyl Pants are great for over cloth diapers, because they hold tons in and are easy to slip on. However, they are bulky. I use the blue/sport theme/striped versions on my boys, grabbing them whenever they’re on sale at Wal-Mart (or when they’re not—they’re not overly pricey.) They’re inexpensive to replace but will last longer if you wash them by hand; otherwise, they will wear out pretty quickly.

While I like the idea of having organic cotton next to my infant’s skin, I have a lot of trouble investing a lot of money in something that a)is outgrown quickly and b)provides the first line of defense against messy diaper leaks. I’ve found that these organic onesies from Gerber are a nice compromise (and Gerber is the original “onesie”). Made from 100% certified organic cotton, they are soft and have a good amount of stretch. The ones we have have already survived quite a lot and are wearing well. You can purchase a pack of three for $10.79 at Amazon.com. Plain white organic onesies are also available in packs of four. They are available in 0-3, 3-6, and 6-9 month sizes.

Anyone who has ever suffered through mastitis knows that it is a miserable experience–high fever, chills, and horrible breast pain. So, when I began to feel some early warning signs over the weekend, I was very thankful to find these Gerber Breast Therapy Packs in some stuff I had packed away from the last baby. Heat is very useful in trying to clear the plugged ducts that can lead to mastitis. The great thing about these packs is that they are so easy to use. You simply put them in the microwave for 15 seconds, and they are ready to go.
I’ve had other similar packs in the past that had to be boiled and then cooled. I have no time or patience for that with three children to care for. These can also be cooled and used to soothe breasts that are sore from engorgement or from the wear and tear of nursing in the early days. Best of all, they are easy to find and very inexpensive. You can purchase them in most drug or discount stores, or pick them up online at MimiMaternity.com. They retail for around $13.

Caring for baby’s gums and teeth is very important. Teething babies will benefit also from the gentle massaging of their gums.
The Gerber Tooth & Gum Cleanser helps to make the discipline of caring for baby’s gums and teeth a fun time for you and baby. It’s a little space of time when you can talk to your baby while you gently clean.
It’s never too early to teach our children dental hygiene. The benefits are priceless. You can purchase one of these for just $5.99 online at CookiesKids.com.

Yesterday, while out shopping, I spotted the Gerber Organic Clothing line for babies. I fell in love with several of the outfits and all of the onesies offered. They have several choices for girls, boys, and unisex. For mommies who don’t know what gender baby they are having, I loved the yellow ochre shades.
They’re available in all sorts of price ranges and sizes. As you might have suspected, they are soft and completely comfortable for your little bundle of joy. An ideal gift or fun to buy for your own baby, I found options at Wal-Mart and at www.target.com. The sweet white 100% Organic onesies I’ve chosen to feature are $9.89.
