As cold weather returns, I’m reminded of how much I struggled to find a maternity coat last winter.  I ended up making do with my existing coats, unfastened (luckily, I don’t get cold very easily). This Gap Maternity Long Peacoat looks like a nice option if you are in that same boat this year. This is the kind of style that can go to the office, but can also be dressed down–which is great if you don’t want to buy more than one maternity coat. It also looks like it will serve well as transition wear–I know I for one was unfortunately unable to fasten most of my coats in the months after giving birth. Halloween is a pretty big deal at our house. So, while it seems a little strange to me that Halloween gear is already showing up in stores, I have to admit that I’m enjoying it. Gap has announced a voluntary recall on some of its babyGap toggle coats. The toggles on the coats may become detached, posing a choking hazard. The recalled styles include Rose Toggle Hoodie (style 600298), Pink Duffle Coat (style 600344), and Blue Plaid and Mojave Toggle Coat (style 600942). These coats were sold at babyGap, Gap Kids, Gap Stores, and online at Gap.com from October 2008 to April 2009. They were sold in sizes up to 24 months and were priced from $20 to $50. If you purchased one of these coats, you can return it to any babyGap, Gap Kids, or Gap store for a full refund. If purchased online, please contact Gap via their website. If you return the coat before August 31, 2009, Gap will issue you a coupon good for 20% off any regular priced item.

What little boy doesn’t look adorable in a stylish embroidered shirt? While I am a big fan of onesies and pants on a day to day basis—anything that makes changing easier is the way to go, in my opinion—I also like having a few nice items for those special events. I would never put my son in this embroidered shirt right before feeding him blueberries per se, but I think this top would work perfectly for a special event that doesn’t involve him creating a mess from his high chair. My little one is a master of kicking off her socks.  During the day I can somewhat keep it under control by putting her in Robeez. At night, however, I like to have her in footed pajamas.  I’ve been disappointed to discover, however, that many of the brands I have always relied on for cotton footed pajamas no longer make them. I can find lots of fleecy pajamas, and cotton pajamas with no feet, but footed cotton jammies seem to be few and far between.  Baby Gap seems to be the last holdout with regard to this trend.  Thankfully, they are still making them. Since my baby is due at the very beginning of winter, and since she is very likely my last, I swore I wasn’t going to invest in a maternity coat.  Unfortunately, it seems that this winter is going to be horrible, and we are already having very cold mornings.  Since I can’t close any of my coats, I think I may have to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

One coat that I am considering is this Warmest Jacket from Gap Maternity.  My older daughter has had a lot of Gap Warmest Jackets, and we have always liked them, so I’m thinking I couldn’t go wrong here.  With all-over quilting, it certainly looks warm. The styling is modern and attractive.  It is pretty casual for the office, but at this point I’m so pregnant that I don’t think my colleagues are going to judge my outerwear too much. I really like the brown color, but a black version is also available.
