DIY Sock Monkey Kit by Sillysockmonkeys

il_fullxfull87947279

Kids love craft projects, and what could be more fun than making your own sock monkey? Etsy seller Sillysockmonkeys offers a kit that allows you to do just that. Original Rockford red heel socks, stuffing, eyes, nose, and much more, plus all instructions, are included. You and your child can have fun putting together your own sock monkey with just scissors and a sewing machine. Great gift idea as well. Check it out at Sillysockmonkeys.com, where the kit sells for $13.50. Not the creative type? You can buy a pre-made sock monkey at the same shop for $40 if you prefer.

Poloppo T-me DYO Shirt Kit

The other day I was paging through Parents magazine and saw something that looked like a fun project to do with my son this summer. Poloppo.com has a T-me DYO Shirt Kit, which comes with 10 mini markers, square paper, a catalog of t-shirts, and a pre-paid return envelope. The idea is for kids to create artwork for the shirt and send it in. Then it gets printed on the t-shirt they chose from the catalog. Kids can create t-shirts for themselves or as gifts for other kids or adults. You can even send in something your child has already drawn and have it put onto the t-shirt. What a neat, creative idea! You can view the T-me shirt kits at Poloppo.com, where they cost $32.50 each.

Funky Feet Snow Boots Pattern

Funky Feet Snow Boots Pattern

The Funky Feet Snow Boots are just that–funky. There is no other word to describe them, except maybe fun. If you’ve been trying to hunt down something off-beat and noticeable for your baby, toddler, or yourself,  look no more. All you have to do is order the pattern and create! Match the boots to your favorite outfit or choose colors to match your perennial garden, just to remind you of summer’s days; that is up to you. Inspired by Christian Louboutin red-soled heels, even the underside of the boots is something to behold. I can just imagine how eye-catching these will be on an infant, tucked under a little dress and tights.

The creator claims that even if you are new to crocheting, her design is quite simple and you should be able to handle it. The pattern costs $20.00 (or pick up a similar baby booty pattern for $5.00), her store is angelacatirina, and the site is etsy.com, a site that never ceases to attract the most creative of vendors.  The designs don’t stop at the funky boots; there are gorgeous crocheting and knitting patterns for dresses that will wow you, a coat of many colors, a calla lily scarf, shoes and flip flops for baby, a spa baby bath robe, and hats for every occasion (even turkeys!) I was certainly floored by everything I saw and commend this talented designer for her patterns; I’ll be keeping my eye on her.
