Once Upon a Time Storybook Rug by Sherri Blum

Although I don’t have a daughter, I love this storybook rug and could easily picture it in a little girl’s room. Designed by Sherri Blum, the Once Upon a Time Storybook Rug measures 2.5 feet x 4.5 feet and is the perfect size to place on the floor in your daughter’s room. She can sit on it while you read her favorite princess and fairy stories to her. The rug is 100% hand-hooked wool, and also coordinates with other Sherri Blum custom wall art designs, to create a theme in the bedroom, nursery, or even a playroom.

I would have loved to sit on this rug and read, write, or just dream as a little girl. You can view this gorgeous rug at RosenberryRooms.com, where it’s currently on sale for $140 (with free shipping).

Lenox Baby’s First Christmas Rudolph Ornament

I have yet to purchase a Baby’s First Christmas ornament for my friend who’s due in the first part in December. I was debating on whether to try to buy a personalized one, but with her due date so close to the holiday, I think an ornament like this Baby’s First Christmas Rudolph Ornament by Lenox would be more practical. This is a shiny, beautiful silver-plated metal version of Rudolph, complete with red nose. He also features gold horns, bells, and hooves. Rudolph sits on a rocker, which has engraved on its runner “Baby’s First Christmas 2008.” The ornament comes with a red ribbon so that it’s ready to hang on the tree.

Although my friend isn’t officially due for a few more weeks, she’s on bedrest and could go at any time. So, I think I’ll purchase this ornament now at CollectiblesToday.com, where it sells for $29.99. That’s not a bad price to commemorate a baby’s first Christmas. I know my friend will cherish this ornament in the years to come.

Haba Nativity Set

If I were going to purchase a Nativity Set to keep as a cherished tradition and bring out of storage each holiday season, I’d choose this one from Haba. All of the figures are made from beechwood, so they are not only sturdy but safe for children to handle. This would be a great tool to teach your child the story of Christmas, as he can move the figures and play with them without realizing he’s learning at the same time. The Nativity Set includes a manger with a star, Mary, the Christ child, Joseph, a shepherd, a lying sheep,a standing sheep, a donkey, an ox, an angel, King Balthasar, King Melchoir, King Caper, two palm trees, a lying camel, a standing camel, and a camel herder.

You can purchase the Haba Nativity Set for $97.50 at HunkyDoryOnline.com. This may sound expensive, but when you think of the many years of holiday memories it will help build, I think it’s well worth the price.

Hallmark Play Family Farm Christmas Ornament

Hallmark Play Family Farm Christmas Ornament

This cute little ornament from Hallmark takes me back to my childhood when I had the Little People Barn that is replicated here in miniature.  Made by Nello Williams, this Christmas ornament captures all of the special details of the vintage toy, complete with the mooing sound that you hear as you open the barn door.

We have the updated version of the toy, but I think this ornament would be a fun way to share some of my childhood memories with my kids.  If it brings back fond memories for you as well, you can view it at Hallmark.com, but you can only purchase one in Hallmark stores for $16.50.

Red Santa Stocking from Kathe Kruse

My experience has been that you can’t go wrong with anything from Kathe Kruse.  These German-made products are always a treat, and their high-quality construction ensures that they will last.  I love the unusual design of this Red Santa Stocking.  This 13 inch stocking features a row of jingle bells along the top and another at the toe.  Kids will no doubt love to give it a shake.  The elf-like design makes it stand out.  It is perfect for adding a little character to your holiday decorating.

You can purchase one of these stockings for a very reasonable $14.99 at Oompa.com.
