However, if your budget is quite small, there are ways to get cribs for less. My mom and I went shopping for our crib before my first son was born. I’d spotted something I really liked in Sears but decided to check out Wal-Mart. They had something extremely similar for less and we saved even more by buying the floor model. They were about to get new models in and had to clear the floor; I got lucky that day but you can ask at your local stores and find out when they plan to refresh their stock. Just have a pro check it over to be sure all the parts are present.

I think the Lion Chair by Scratch (shown above) is beautiful. Crafted from wood and imitation leather, the lion’s head serves as the backrest and the remainder of the chair is much like a footstool. I’d love to see it in a nursery or play room used as a footstool for a rocking chair or as a chair with a coordinating table. The lion’s quirky smile and cross-eyes are enchanting and the colors are bright but not overdone or tacky. There’s just enough plain wood to balance the orange and yellow, a mixture that might inspire some lovely nursery designs.
