I think everyone who follows high-end children’s products is familiar with the popular Cariboo bassinet. Fans of this popular modern look will be excited to know that the company has introduced a gorgeous full-sized crib. Made from sustainable Radiata pine, the crib is as eco-friendly as it is attractive. Conversion kits (sold separately) allow you to convert the crib into a toddler bed or sofa as your child grows, making it a sound investment. This crib would be a wonderful centerpiece to any environmentally conscious nursery. Coordinating nursery furniture is also available. The crib retails for $1599.95. You can check it out at Cariboo.us/kiwiCot.cfm .

Jardine has expanded its crib recall to include seven models of its wooden cribs, comprising 96,000 new recalls. The company recalled 320,000 cribs in June 2008 and an additional 56,450 cribs in January 2009. The CPSC has received over 30 incident reports of slats breaking, and some reports of children becoming stuck between the slats. Minor injuries have been reported. The latest recall involves the following models: Americana, Berkley, Capri, Hilton, Olympia, Positano, Spindle, and Windsor. To view the complete list of crib model numbers and dates included, visit JardineCribRecall.com. The company will issue each customer who owns one of the recalled cribs a voucher good for the purchase of one crib at Babies R Us and Toys R Us stores.

I had a small moment of panic when I saw that Jardine has recalled a number of cribs, because that is the brand that we bought. Although our daughter has yet to even sleep in the crib, the thought that it could be unsafe is terrifying. Luckily, after crawling around on the floor under it, I discovered that ours, a sleigh crib, was not included in the recall. These cribs were sold at Babies R Us. You can find the entire list of product numbers and more information at jardinecribrecall.com. Customers with recalled cribs will be given a voucher for the purchase of a new crib. Of course, if it means all the hassle we went through to get our crib, which had to be picked up out of town and couldn’t be delivered to our home, affected customers might have reason to be a little irked. This is Jardine’s second big recall in less than a year. I’m hoping our crib won’t be next!
Muu Kids offers some truly unique furniture for infants and children. The company is currently offering 20% off its gorgeous Sam line through the end of March. I am absolutely in love with these modern pieces which you customize with the design of your choice (and your child’s name if you so choose). While the line is not cheap (the crib retails for $1375), this is a chance to get a rare discount on a truly upscale item. You can shop the sale at Muu retailers, or online at MuuKids.com. Use the code MUU09 to claim your discount.

The Winnie the Pooh Musical Crib Light Projector actually does just as it promises; it helps our son fall asleep all on his own. We think that it is not the dreamy images that make him sleepy, as suggested by the manufacturer, but the spinning shapes and the loud “white noise” it makes while turning. It is not a quiet sleep tool at all but, luckily, that has turned out to be a positive as opposed to the expected negative. There are several sounds and music options on the projector, but since we ended up with two, I generally use the music while letting him watch the toy during play time and do without the music at sleep time.
You can choose to have the projector on with music or without it or you can have music only or lights and sounds or lights and images. It automatically shuts off after 10 minutes, which seems to be plenty of time to put baby to sleep and not too much overtime so batteries are wasted. Attach it to the crib or set it on a dresser or table or other surface; it works either way. Buy it for $29.98 on sale at netkidswear.com but if it works as well for you as it does for us, call it priceless. However, be warned—the images are not clear; they are fuzzy, “dreamy” pictures of Pooh and his friends.

By now I think that most parents have heard of the dangers of crib bumpers, which have been linked to infant deaths. Many parents still use them however, perhaps because they look nice, or because they promise to protect little arms and legs from getting stuck between the bars of the crib. GoMamaGoDesigns offers a compromise for parents who want the look and benefits of a bumper without worrying about the attendant-risks of traditional bumpers.
The idea behind this product is simple. With individuals bumpers which attach to each bar of the crib, the product provides cushioning for mobile infants while allowing airflow to circulate and thus reducing the risk of SIDS. This design also has the added benefit of allowing curious little ones to get a better look at the world outside the crib.
I think the pattern on this pink version is attractive. Perhaps soon the company will begin to offer other coordinating crib bedding as well. The Wonder Bumper will be available for sale beginning February 1. You can learn all about it at GoMamaGoDesigns.com.

I thought this Graco Lauren Convertible 4-in-1 crib was gorgeous when I laid eyes on it, with its architectural lines and simple elegance. The best thing is that this crib, which comes in three finishes—natural, white, or espresso—is on sale for $179.98 down from $239.99. cribs.com is having a Super Sale and I must say saving $60 is not too shabby for a crib, toddler bed, daybed, and full size bed all in one. Also, they offer other cribs with exquisite details and dark finishes (like the Graco Sarah crib that will knock your socks off at $174.99).
However, if your budget is quite small, there are ways to get cribs for less. My mom and I went shopping for our crib before my first son was born. I’d spotted something I really liked in Sears but decided to check out Wal-Mart. They had something extremely similar for less and we saved even more by buying the floor model. They were about to get new models in and had to clear the floor; I got lucky that day but you can ask at your local stores and find out when they plan to refresh their stock. Just have a pro check it over to be sure all the parts are present.

Don’t let having an infant or toddler keep you from travelling. When our twins were newborns, not only did we take them on a cross-country flight, we even braved an international trip. If you’ve travelled with babies, you know how much equipment you need to bring. This travel crib by Phil & Ted’s was a life saver. Why bring a bulky playpen, when you can have a travel crib that weighs under six pounds and folds up so compact, that you can throw it into a hiking pack, like we did.
The new model available now even has a self-inflating mattress, which makes set up that much easier, as well as a zip-open side for easy baby access, so you no longer have to bend over the top. While we only use ours indoors, you can also use yours outdoors, as the fabric is waterproof. There is even a zip-off UV shade cover that is sold separately.
The best part is that the travel crib is safe to use from newborn to age 3, so you are really getting your money’s worth. It is sold in two colors here in the US—black or red. Go to ThePortableBaby.com and buy the Traveller for $199.95 today.

When I found out they were having a Baby Sale at Amazon, I made sure to log on. Sure enough, I found some things that really blew my mind. For example, this 10 pc. Dancing Frogs Infant Crib Nursery Bedding Set is marked down to $49.95 (regularly $200) right now at Amazon.com As I’ve made clear in the past, I’m a fan of frogs and pond crib bedding, but I’ve not run into 10-piece sets for $49.95 before. This deal, even combined with shipping for $13.79 is a show-stopper because it includes the crib quilt , a crib bumper, a fitted sheet, a crib skirt, a diaper stacker, 2 window valances , a toy bag , a cute “Dancing Frog” pillow, and even a matching bib. If frogs aren’t your thing, don’t fret—there are tons of similar deals on crib bedding on the site.

Jubi Crib Sheets are said to be thicker and softer than other crib sheets on the market. This, plus the fact that they are made from 100% cotton stretch double interlock, is said to justify the $116 price tag on its three-piece crib sheet set (one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and one pillow sham). Personally, I’m not convinced.
Made in New Zealand, the manufacturers of Jubi say, “Once you have put your child to bed on Jubi sheets, you will find it hard to go back to your normal bed linen.” They also carry a line of bassinet sheets, blankets, towels, and even baby clothing.
Jubi products are said to be created under humane conditions from 100% certified cotton, and to be adaptable to any climate. They are also supposed to be more durable, retain their shape, and won’t pill. Jubi products are all machine washable and dryable.

I recently received the new JCPenney baby catalog in the mail and was nicely surprised by the number of fun and attractive sets of crib bedding that they offer. My eye was drawn in particular to this Tivoli Garden 4-piece Crib Bedding Set, which includes a comforter, a bumper, a fitted sheet, and a dust ruffle. The colors are very bold and appealing, featuring a design of flowers and butterflies. The set is made in the USA from pique and jacquard with eyelet and satin accents. This set would definitely add cheer to any nursery. A number of coordinating accessories are also available, although the color scheme will make it very easy to match with your own special touches as well.
Best of all, this is one crib bedding set that won’t break the bank. You can purchase it on sale for $169.99 at JCPenney.com.

I stumbled upon the up-and-coming line of luxury crib bedding by Sew Crib Creations quite by accident. The designer’s daughter, expecting around the same time I am, posted a picture of one of these gorgeous sets on a forum that I frequent, and I knew I had to see more. The line includes a number of designs for both boys and girls, as well as gender-neutral sets like this adorable one featuring sock monkeys.
The sock monkey set includes everything you could possibly need to furnish your nursery in coordinating style: a crib sheet, blanket, a crib skirt (your choice of straight or pleated), an accent pillow, bumper pads, a diaper stacker, a toy bag, and two valences. Each piece offers a fun pairing of the playful sock monkey print and other fabrics such as brown and white dots, red twill, and plush chenille. Everything is made by hand with extreme care and expertise.
Each set is custom-made when you order, so you will need to allow approximately three weeks for delivery. It will be well worth the wait! This particular set retails for $799 and can be purchased at CrazyAboutBabies.com. Alternately, you can contact the designer, Sheila Wood, to arrange a custom order, and view some of her previous designs through her ebay page. Styles are available in a number of different price ranges. A customized set would also make a wonderfully thoughtful gift for a mom-to-be.

Though $349.95 is an upscale price for crib bedding, the Red Baron Crib Bedding set by Banian is a bright and happy one that really gives bang for your buck. The quilt is crafted by hand, while the characters on it are created by Jim Edmiston. The pillow would make a nice accent for a nursery rocker and the entire thing would look pretty in a green or yellow room. The friendly characters suit a boy or a girl and are sure to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. A lush gift for a loving friend or relative, I found it at OneStepAhead.com.

This Pink Pop bedding set from Amy Coe’s Babies R Us line looks a lot more expensive than it is. Reminiscent of some of the pricier sets I have seen lately, this four piece set has an elegant floral print in shades of pink and white. It includes a dust ruffle, a fitted crib sheet, a bumper, and a comforter. The comforter’s cover is removable for easier cleaning. All pieces are machine washable.
I think this would really make any little girl’s nursery special. The line also includes a number of products to finish your nursery, from a cute mobile to wall art. I am very impressed by the look of this set, and I am even more impressed by the price. You can purchase one for $169.99 at ToysRUs.com.

If you aren’t planning to use a bumper in your crib, buying a nice crib quilt is a good way to get a high-end look without paying for something you won’t be able to use. This George crib quilt from Olli and Lime caught my eye for that very reason. Made from 100% organic cotton, this piece features a fresh, modern design in lime and chocolate. It is very gender-neutral, and would be easy to match with solid colored sheets and a crib skirt, to create a complete look. I can envision a lot of great nursery accessories that would match as well.
When your child outgrows a crib, this quilt is also a perfect fit for a toddler bed. Even though my two year old is now in a twin bed, she still uses her crib quilt for daycare. You will definitely get a lot of use out of one of these great quilts. You can purchase one for $120 at tinydecor.com. Even adding in sheets and a crib skirt, you will spend less than you would on many sets.
