Trestia Co-Sleeping Solution

Trestia Co-Sleeping Solution

I’ve co-slept, at least part time, with all three of my children. Despite my conviction that it is an inherently safe and healthy practice, I still worry at times that my little one could roll out of bed or otherwise get hurt. That’s why I like the idea of this Trestia Co-Sleeping Solution. Made from natural rubber covered in organic sateen, it provides a barrier between your child and the edge of the bed. If you have tow children in the bed, you can put it between them to keep them from rolling onto one another. I would have loved that option when my middle daughter was born and I was scared to death when her older sister would still want to crawl in bed with us. The product also doubles as a pregnancy and nursing pillow. After your children outgrow the family bed, it can be used as a reading pillow. You can purchase one for $129.95 at globalenfant.com. This product is eco-friendly and made using fair trade labor.

Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper Mini

Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Mini

Our infant has reached an awkward stage where she’s too big and too mobile for the cradle, but not yet ready to sleep in her own room. After finally getting my middle daughter out of our bed, I’m hopping not to start that habit this time around. Although I’m not sure how long we will be able to contain her in it, we decided our best bet is a co-sleeper. Because of space concerns, the Mini was our best bet. We’ve been using it for about a week now, and I’m quite pleased. You can use it either as a freestanding bassinet or a co-sleeper. Getting it attached securely to the bed is a bit complicated, so I wouldn’t recommend trying to switch between the two modes on a regular basis. Overall, I would recommend this product to new parents, although I miss being able to use our movement monitor because it lacks the necessary wood bottom. You can purchase the Mini for $154 at armsreach.com.

Arm’s Reach Sleigh Bed Bassinet

Arm's Reach Sleigh Bed Bassinet

I’ve always loved the idea of a co-sleeper, but until now I wasn’t very impressed by the appearance of the ones I’ve seen in stores and friends’ houses.  This Sleigh Bed Bassinet model from Arm’s Reach, however, has me wishing that I didn’t already have a cradle that I love.

Designed for children up to approximately 18 months, this co-sleeper allows you to keep your baby right next to your bed. Because it attaches directly to any size of mattress, it affords nursing moms easier access to their little ones.  It also looks great.

This bassinet co-sleeper comes with a sheet, mattress, and bumper pad.  You can purchase one for $369.99 at armsreach.com.  A number of finishes are available.  You can also purchase a conversion set to transform the co-sleeper into a child-sized love seat when your child outgrows it.

Organic Cotton Co-Sleeper by Humanity Infant & Herbal

Organic Cotton Co-Sleeper

We never set out to be co-sleepers, but it just turned out that way.  I find it to be so much easier, especially in the early months when little ones are frequent night nursers, and the benefits of co-sleeping are widely documented.

I am very intrigued by this Organic Cotton Co-sleeper by Humanity Infant & Herbal, which has a very different design from other products on the market.  It features a four feet bolster which prevents a child from accidentally rolling off the side of the bed.  This bolster can also be detached and used as a body pillow during pregnancy, so you might want to invest in one a little early.

The co-sleeper pad is made of 100% organic cotton flannel which absorbs diaper and milk leaks, protecting your mattress and bedding.  You can then unzip the pad and simply throw it in the washer.  It is also fairly portable for travel.  You can purchase one for $249.99 at Eva Lillian Maternity.

Co-Zee Co-Sleeper by Hisense

Co-Zee Co-Sleeper by Hisense

I’m very intrigued by the look and features of the Co-Zee Co-sleeper by Hisense. I had a product similar to this one when my younger daughter was an infant, and I didn’t end up using it much. What I like about this product, however, is that it appears to have avoided the design flaws that made the product I bought less than useful.

This product looks much roomier than the one I own, which is one thing that immediately attracted me to it. It actually looks like it would be comfortable for a newborn, with plenty of room between the baby and the sides of the co-sleeper.

Most importantly, while I couldn’t use mine with our motion/breathing monitor, the Co-Zee version offers parents the option of purchasing a monitor that is compatible with co-sleeping. The product also features a night light and a pull out tray to hold a bottle and pacifier. Overall, this is a nice-looking and well-designed product.

You can purchase one in either pink or blue for $118 from bel-bambini.com.
