Chalkboard Activity Table by Pottery Barn Kids

Chalkboard Activity Table

If you place an activity table in the middle of the room, children will be drawn to it because they really need a place to be creative. This Chalkboard Activity Table by Pottery Barn Kids is a great idea, with its chalkboard surface. Don’t worry, there’s a pullout drawer on one side where they can store all of their chalk. It also includes two storage cubbies on the other side. It’s made from solid rubberwood, which is a man-made fiber that contains wood fibers and resin binders. Its density is about the same as a medium weight hardwood but it is more structurally stable and will not warp or crack.

With all the wear and tear that your children can provide, this Chalkboard Activity Table should be able to stand the test of time. Its dimensions are 33.5×49.5×15.5″h. You can view this item at PotteryBarnKids.com, where it’s on sale now for just $199.

Woody Chalkboard Table Designed by Eric Pfeiffer for Offi

Woody Chalkboard Table Designed by Eric Pfeiffer for Offi

Chalkboards and easels are fine, but the chalk won’t stay on those narrow ledges. Inevitably you’ll have broken pieces of chalk littering the floor and then you’ll have to open another box of chalk. Here’s an idea that’s worth trying that will, for the most part, eliminate all that wasted chalk. The Woody Chalkboard Table designed by Eric Pfeiffer for Offi features a durable chalkboard surface with a center bowl for chalk/eraser storage.

For fun and variety and to surprise your child every so often, fill the storage bowl with colored chalk, or chalk of different sizes and shapes. The table features a washable vinyl chalkboard surface with birch ply construction. It measures 18”H x 30”W and costs $299 at allchildrensfurniture.com.

Peel & Stick Chalkboard by Wallies

Peel & Stick Chalkboard by Wallies

Wow, could I have used this product 15 years ago. Yes, it’s true, I’m old (older). But the funny thing is, even though my children are older too, we could still all use these Peel & Stick Chalkboards in just about every room in the house!

When they were little and running around the house, I used to put up butcher paper in the hallway or on a door or a wall in their room just to give them a space to be creative (and busy). Eventually the paper would tear, the masking tape would peel and it would all get tossed in the bin - oh, except those exceptional little pieces of art that made the refrigerator door!

This Peel & Stick idea is totally cool because they’re removable 9″x12″ panels (four per pack) that you can put anywhere. Cut and trim panels for small areas or put together two or more packs for a large canvas effect. Chalk included. Price: $19.99 per pack at cheekymonkey.com.
