Lifefactory creates eco-friendly, modern, stylish glass baby bottles that are free of toxins like bisphenol-A (BPA), phthalates, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This company is not simply eco-friendly, however. Their designs are colorful and contemporary, such as this Multi Color Glass Baby Bottle Starter Kit. The kit comes with one 4 oz. Raspberry colored bottle, one 4 oz. Sky colored bottle, one 9 oz Yellow bottle, one 9 oz. Orange bottle, a two-pack of Stage 2 Nipples, and a two-pack of Solid Caps. The entire set costs a reasonable $59.99 at Lifefactory.com. This would make a wonderful, thoughtful gift for a new parent or parent-to-be.

I just came across this new product, but I’m not sure if I approve or not. It’s called Stop a Drop, made by Riley Specialty Products, Inc. Stop a Drop is a lightweight neoprene harness that combines with a bottle coozie, attaches to baby’s bottle, and fits onto baby, so that there are no more dropped bottles. The website doesn’t give much information about the product, just that it’s available in blue, black, or pink and costs $14.95. It does say this product is made from non-toxic materials and is patented. To check it out for yourself, go to StopaDrop.com.

I’ve seen some pretty over-the-top baby items in the years I’ve been a parent, but this baby bottle from D & G may well take the cake. All about conspicuous consumption, this bottle is made in Italy and decorated with the D & G logo (in either pink or blue). The craziest part is that it only holds 2 oz, which “might” satisfy a tiny newborn. After that, this $51 baby bottle won’t serve much of a purpose. Perhaps it would make a super-stylish doll accessory. You can check it out at Zappos.com.

Here is a great BPA-free bottle for kids on the go. We bought a few of these for our kids to take to day camp last year and they have survived quite well. They have a very sleek look and are easy to clean. The bite valve may be a little tricky for the youngest users, but it really does help stop leaks. You can purchase this child-friendly .5 liter size for $11 at evergreencanteen.com. Larger sizes are also available.

This seems like a great idea whose time has definitely come. The Iiamo Go is a bottle that heats itself in four minutes, anywhere, anytime. Through a disposable, organic heating cartridge consisting of only salt and water, the bottle can warm itself to a temperature of 98.6 degrees F. The bottle contains no BPA, PVC, lead, or phthalates, and is made in Denmark. It is tested and approved for safety by Forbrugerlaboratoriet, security group A. Think how much easier traveling with baby could become with the Iiamo! It sells for $38.07 (which includes one 180 ml bottle, one teat, and one heating cartridge) at DanskDesign.Nu.

There are so many things a mother has to worry about when she has a baby. One thing that you want to have the peace of mind about is that the bottles your baby uses are safe. Although I nursed my son, he did drink lots of water out of a pediatrician-recommended bottle. At the time I never knew to check if it was BPA free. Now with all the concern over contaminates in toys and recalls over safety, I have been more aware about the products we use. Researchers believe that baby bottles containing polycarbonate plastic contain bisphenol – A (BPA), which the majority of baby bottles were previously made from, include a synthetic estrogen which can increase the risk of childhood obesity, A.D.D. and more. The safest bottles to use would be glass or steel but, as these types of bottles are not practical, Green to Grow has developed bottles which are free of lead, BPA, PVC, and other harmful materials.
Made from PES plastic, the Green to Grow Bottle has an attractive design and golden glow and includes a beginner (0-3 months) nitrosamine-free silicone nipple. The bottles come in packaging which is 100% recycled. The 5 oz regular bottle is $9.99 and the 10 oz regular is $10.99 at GreenToGrow.com

This hybrid sippy cup/sports bottle from Nalgene is a great way for an older toddler to transition away from a sippy cup. I bought one of these for my two year old, but it has been taken over by my nine year old. She likes the way it looks, so I guess you don’t have to worry that an older child would be insulted if given one of these. I’m thankful she uses it, because even as she gets older, she is still prone to spills here and there.
I find that this bottle is great for on the go. The loop near the spout allows you to clip it to a backpack or diaper bag so you won’t lose it while out on an adventure. As is always the case with Nalgene products, you don’t need to worry about smells or tastes being left behind, so you can fill it with whatever you like.
The bottle comes in either blue or pink, and can be purchased for $13.95 from dandelionbaby.com.

I like this picture. It looks like they’re holding something green from the good earth! These days moms are more aware of how their household and family products are manufactured, especially products that our children will be using. Even more so when it’s a baby product, like bottles.
I thought as long I sterilized them between feedings that I was doing the most for my child, but I could have been doing more. Green to Grow Baby Bottles are free of phthalates and bisphenol A (a suspected hormone-disrupting chemical used in polycarbonate plastic from which most baby bottles are made). They are also free of lead and PVC. Whew! How did we survive?
It’s a little scary but it’s important to know. The replaceable nipples are also made from non-toxic, heat-resistant medical grade silicone. Comes in Beginner (slow-flow), Intermediate (medium flow), and Expert (fast flow) speeds to choose from. Dishwasher safe. Price: $8.99 at cheekymonkey.com. Be safe.

We don’t even use a lot of bottles, but this is the second bottle dryer that has captured my attention in the last few months. Made by the innovators at Skip Hop, this drying rack is modern and stylish. I love the red version, which would fit in well with our kitchen decor.
The rack includes a handy bottle brush, and, more importantly, keeps everything well-organized. Things can get pretty crazy with an infant in the house, so I am all about anything that helps keep little pieces in the correct place, and minimizes the clutter in drawers and on counter tops.
The design of the Splash Bottle Dryer allows it to hold all the little pieces parts like bottle and sippy cup valves, nipples, straws, etc. These qualities also make it a perfect gift for a busy new mom or dad.
The Skip Hop Spash is 10″ wide x 11″ tall x 10″ deep–big enough to hold a lot, but compact enough that it won’t take up all your counter space. You can buy one for $28 at goores.com.
The Skip Hop Splash was also reviewed by the Baby Gear Review blog.

Worries over bisphenol A have put the spotlight on glass bottles, which have fallen out of widespread use in recent years.
In order to reduce the breaking-risks associated with glass, Wee Go introduced these ingenious bottles that are protected by an attractive sleeve. The sleeve shields the bottle from breaking and adds some color and fun to each feeding. Best of all, you can boil the bottles are put them in the dishwasher without ever removing the sleeve.
The bottles are available with a number of fun sleeve colors to choose from. Whether you are having a boy or girl, and whether your tastes or modern or traditional, you will find something appealing. Each 9 oz bottle costs $18. You can purchase one at gobabylife.com.

The BPA scare has affected more than just baby bottles, so many people (me included) are left scrambling to find alternatives for our toddlers and older children. One such product that I recently discovered is this bottle made by the Swiss company, SIGG. SIGG’s bottles are made of aluminum, and promise to be completely taste neutral—so drinks taste great.
Best of all, the company guarantees that there will be no leaching of any dangerous materials—which included BPA, BPB, and phthalates. The bottle also has a double seal to prevent leaks. Some, such as the “Bonne Nuit” model pictured here, even glow in the dark. Many other fun, child-friendly designs are available.
This size holds .3L. You can buy one for $15.95 at reusablebags.com. For an additional $5.95, you can purchase a Kids Grip accessory that transforms the bottle into a sippy cup that is easier for little hands to hold on to. With so many features, it’s no wonder that these Earth-friendly cups are catching on with celebrity parents like Madonna.

The Adiri bottle is the closest bottle to breastfeeding on the market and it’s safe. Adiri is 100% polycarbonate-free and bisphenol-A free. These bottles have a wonderful feature called the Fill, Twist and Feed system, so that anyone can quickly prepare a bottle quickly even with one hand.
The Adiri comes in three stages for three different flow rates with each stage holding 8 oz. of fluid. Bonus they are dishwasher safe! 1 Bottle Per Pack. Stage 1 - Ages 0-3 mos., Stage 2 - Ages 3-6 mos., and Stage 3 - Ages 6 mos. and up. Adiri can be found at Babies R’Us and retail for $12.99 per bottle.

I had a bottle warmer with my son and would very much have appreciated the added bonus of a food warmer as well. The Philips Avent Express Bottle and Baby Food Warmer warms without the dreaded hot spots mommies worry about the microwave causing and apparently, gets the job done in less than four minutes. It even comes with a little spoon and container for storage. I’m not the kind of mom who will patiently wait (while baby screams) for the bottle or food to warm up in a cup of hot water, so this is right up my alley. I like the low-key colors and the simple shape, great for easily fitting in any kitchen décor. For $39.99 at toysrus.com, I think the price is right for convenience.

We rarely use bottles at my house and yet I want this bottle drier from Vice Versa. The cool Italian design completely wins me over. Bright green sprouts hold bottles while a single yellow tulip adds a further splash of color. A drip tray catches the extra water. I think this would make a great conversation piece, and therefore a great shower gift. It measures 9” (length) x 3.5” (width) x 8” (height). You can buy one at www.store.pacifieronline.com. Unfortunately, though, it seems that lots of people were as impressed by this product as I was, because it is currently out of stock. Hopefully more will arrive soon. The price is a very reasonable $12.50.

These bottle caps are perfect for anyone who has a child that uses a sippy cup on-the-go. You can keep some in your purse or in the car and rest assured that while you’re driving, there are no stains on the interior of the car…or on your child! They come in a 4-pack of different style caps that vary in color, texture, and flow. You can a set for yourself at www.abellaboutique.com for $7.99.
