I haven’t been fond of most of the bed toppers I’ve seen in catalogs and online, because they totally enclose a child’s bed. This just seems unsafe to me. But this Thomas the Train Bed Topper, made by Playhut, is different. It provides a safe, secluded area for your child to play, read, or just be alone while he’s in bed. He can get away from his parents for a while, yet his parents can still check on him to make sure he’s safe.
This bed topper fits over any standard twin size bed. It features tie-off windows for hideaway play, a tunnel port to crawl through, and side flaps to allow access underneath the bed. It is supposed to be easy to set up, with its twist and fold method, and to store.
This would add lots of fun to a Thomas motif in a child’s room. You can purchase this bed topper on sale for $47.99 (regularly $59.99) at TysToyBox.com.

Every time I get a new catalog from Oompa Toys, my eyes linger over this great bed from my favorite kids’ company, Haba. I can’t imagine that we will ever splurge on this for any of our three girls, but I sure love to look at it. The frame of the bed is made from solid wood and decorated with six strands of fabric vines and roses. It features a light green canopy set off by pink edging. A hanging pouch is perfect for storing all kinds of treasures.
The Haba Garden Chalet Twin Bed would be a wonderful place to sleep, and I imagine it would be a great place to play or hide out with a book or host a tea party, too. The only problem I can see is that your daughter might want to spend all of her free time in her bedroom.
You can purchase one of these amazing beds on clearance for $998.99 at Oompa.com. A matching desk and chair are also available.

Here is a great baby blanket that will grow with your child. The Paris Oversized Blanket by Patricia Ann Designs measures 36″ x 45″, so it will fit a standard crib or toddler bed. It is thick enough that it can be used on the floor as a play mat as well.
What I love about these blankets is the quality of the fabric and the number of fun designs that are available. I really like the fabric of this Paris design–it is fun and chic, and coordinates well with several similar lines from Gymboree. the blanket is backed with pink chenille and and sports a black ruffled trim for a sophisticated contrast.
You can purchase one for $78 at Patricia Ann Designs. A number of other fun patterns for both boys and girls are also available. When you check them out, you will see why they have become a favorite with celebrity moms such as Kristy Swanson.

Talk about a princess bed…this one puts all of the others to shame! Your little girl will feel like Cinderella in this Fantasy Coach bed. This bed is the most elaborate piece of furniture I’ve ever seen. It’s hand-made in England from wood and fiberglass with the interior measuring approximately 6 feet in diameter.
This bed doesn’t come cheap, because of the intricate design and the fact that it’s hand crafted, you can expect to pay around $47,000 and wait up to 6 months for delivery. If you want to find out more and see other spectacular children’s items, go to www.poshtots.com.

I’m not sure who actually buys this product, but I have to smile every time I see it. I think this is the flagship item for Posh Tots, as it is prominently displayed on their Web site and was on the cover of their catalogue.
I think most little ones would enjoy the opportunity to sleep in this magnificent fairy-tale inspired coach, but at $47,000, I can’t imagine that many will have the opportunity.
This product is custom-made and handcrafted in England. It requires six months for construction and completion, which must seem like an eternity to the lucky child awaiting its arrival. The dimensions are 9’6” L x 5’6” W x 8’ H. You can buy one at poshtots.com.

Many new parents have been saved by their infant swings. I know that both of my nephews slept almost exclusively in their swings in the first few months. The Amby Baby Motion Bed is designed to have the same soothing qualities as a swing, while introducing more bedlike features. The bed is designed to swaddle the baby, and to provide just enough motion to simulate a womb-like environment. If your baby suffers from reflux, an adjustable incline allows you to prop him or her up to reduce reflux symptoms. At first I thought this product might just be a gimmick, but I started considering it as an option when I read that it has been endorsed by Dr. Sears, whose opinion I tend to take quite seriously. I’m still on the fence about whether to buy this product, but I am strongly considering it. The $237 price for the most basic model certainly seems reasonable. Bedding is available in blue, white, or natural raw cotton. The Amby Bed is designed to hold babies up to 12 months of age. You can read more about this product and purchase one at www.ambybaby.com.
