Janie and Jack Hand-Embroidered Cable Beanie

It is quite cold where we live, and I have been having all kinds of trouble finding a hat that is small enough for our newborn to wear.  Everything ends up falling down in her face and covering up her eyes, which does not please her (and with good reason). I was excited to discover that Janie and Jack’s layette collection includes outerwear in preemie sizes.  I particularly like this cable knit sweater beanie, with its soft blue color and classic style.  Made from a cotton angora blend, it looks like it would be as soft as can be on a little head.  Earflaps and and a chin strap create finish off this adorable look while keeping the hat securely in place.  The hat is lined with soft cotton jersey.  You can purchase one on sale for $9.99 at JanieAndJack.com.  It is available in sizes from preemie to 3-6 months.

Old Navy Crocheted Brimmed Hat for Baby

This fun, hip hat from Old Navy allows you to dress your little one up in style without spending a small fortune.  Made from 100% cotton and completely machine-washable, this hat will bring a bit of bohemian style to any little girl’s wardrobe.  I love the crocheted detail and the shape of the brim.  I think it would look great with just about any outfit, from jeans to a casual dress or skirt. It is available in either blue or wine, and in sizes from XS to L. Best of all, this fun accessory is currently on sale for only $5.99.  You can purchase one at OldNavy.com.

Kate Quinn Organics Sun Hat

Kate Quinn Organics Sun Hat

I immediately fell in love with the design of this Kate Quinn Organics Sun Hat. It’s unfortunate I have boys and my husband simply won’t let me use something quite this feminine on them. Made from organic materials, French terry to be more specific, it is lovely paired with the outfit featured or with a sun dress or simple pants and summer top.

Available for 0-3 Months right up to 3-6 and 6-12 Months, it’s accessible for moms of babies born at any time of year. I found it in Vanilla, a neutral suited to match anything, for $17.99 at UrthChild.com. For moms with their babies and the earth on their consciences, it’s completely organic, as all Kate Quinn designs are, and keeps children safe from overexposure to the sun.

Minimink Russian Hat

We were recently gifted with one of these Minimink Russian Hats for our baby-to-be.  I am very excited because I have always admired Minimink’s line, but never owned any of their products until now.  This hat is as cute as can be, and with this winter predicted to be a bad one, it will definitely be put to good use.

The hat is made in a classic “Russian” style, with Minimink’s famous faux fur around the outer edge on on the ear flaps.  The inside of the ear flaps is lined with 100% cotton cord for added comfort and warmth.  This same cord is used to make the rest of the hat as well.  It looks great and it feels luxuriously soft.  It ties under the chin. The hat can be handwashed “mildly.”

The hat is available in three colors (honey, milk, and chocolate) and can be purchased for $36 at ArteBebe.com.  It is available in sizes from newborn to 1-2 years.  It makes an absolutely delightful gift for cold-climate babies.

Keepsake Baby Bonnet by Elegant Baby

This Keepsake Baby Bonnet by Elegant Baby really is an elegant gift with its hand embroidery and scalloped edge. Gift wrapping is also available for giving as a baby shower or christening gift. It’s very delicate and sure to become a heirloom. You can visit Amazon.com to order this Bonnet for just $15.19. It’s kind of a traditional gift for a child but that’s one of the things I like about this item. Some things are always true and some things always stay the same.

Bizoux Bizoux Funky Zoo Animals Minky Baby Hats

Bizoux Bizoux Funky Hats

Though I really only love the giraffe print Bizoux Bizoux Funky Zoo Animals Minky Baby Hat, especially with its reverse side done in solid orange, I’m sure others will love the cow, leopard, and zebra prints. Made of a soft mink with knotted head pieces, this hat is just the thing to funk-ify your baby’s wardrobe. I would match it to an orange shirt and jeans for my own little one.

Easy to care for, since it’s machine washable, and pretty cute with the matching booties (but perhaps overkill with the matching sleepers), it’s a reasonable $16. Buy your favorite pattern at Polka Dot Patch Boutique.
