Fifibear’s is a frozen organic baby food company specializing in complete meals for infants and toddlers, ages 6-18 months old. The company says its food can be thinned out with water or breastmilk for babies younger than 6 months, or served as is for toddlers older than 18 months. What I really noticed while browsing their site is the unique variety and combinations of foods available, combinations you don’t normally see in baby food. One example is the Herbed Rice and Salmon, featuring organic Basmati rice , wild Alaskan salmon, organic broccoli, water, organic spinach , organic onions, organic herbs, organic ground flaxseed, organic unsalted butter, and organic sunflower oil. This like a delicious way to introduce organic foods to your baby at a young age, possibly avoiding later problems in trying to feed these foods to a toddler. You can view the variety of frozen organic food available at FifibearsBrasserie.com, where a list of retailers who carry Fifibear’s is also published. Unfortunately, it looks like the food is only available in California, Arizona, and Nevada right now, but the site also has a form you can print and take to your local store manager requesting that they carry Fifibears.

Here’s a great idea for busy parents who want to feed their babies organic food. HappyBaby sells frozen organic meals, designed for babies age 6 months and up, that provide protein and many of the vitamins and minerals that growing babies need. Developed in conjunction with noted pediatrician and author Dr. Robert W. Sears, HappyBaby Fresh Frozen Organic Meals are available in a variety of flavors, including carrots and peas, sweet potatoes and pears, and squash and apple. You can view the array of meals available at happybabyfoods.com, and they are available for purchase at stores such as Babies r Us, SuperTarget, and Albertson’s.

When my son was a baby, organic baby food wasn’t found in stores. I didn’t know to look online, however, as I was not quite as Internet-literate as a new mom as I am now that I’m the mother of a preschooler. If I had found Petite Palate’s Organic Baby Food back then, I might have given it a try. Recently I had a chance to “sample” their variety pack, and my “test group” found it to be highly palatable! Consisting of my 5 year old son, my friend’s one year old, my three year old nephew, and myself, the test panel sampled Petite Palate’s Variety Pack: Banana Peach Blend, Apple Pear Blend (a favorite of everyone in the group), Spinach Potato Puree, Split Pea, Garnet Yams, and Lentil. While the fruit flavors drew high marks from everyone, even the vegetable purees were easy for kids who are not usually veggie lovers to eat. I like the fact that everything in Petite Palate’s food is organic and nutritious, and that it’s packaged in eco-friendly sustainable 4 oz. paper cups. Created by moms who are also chefs, Petite Palate is a great way to start baby on a nutritious road that will last for the rest of his life. You can purchase the Variety Pack for $20.88 at Amazon.com.

My cupboards are never organized. It’s the bane of my kitchen, but Skip Hop is a company with moms like me in mind. The Chow Baby Food Organizer is genius. I use baby food jars not only for food but for travel food containers as well. Imagine having them at hand in my pantry — I’d be able to get things moving in the kitchen much quicker, that’s for sure! Available in marine, white, and poppy, it’s a sure match to your or any parent on your holiday list’s kitchen. You don’t have to worry about fit, because its size is adjustable to your space, with two shelves or three, so it suits just about cabinet space.
At $24, it’s a sensible buy at babyearth.com.

So my son just started solids and we decided to use organic baby food for him. After researching them all we decided on Earth’s Best and we couldn’t be happier.
After eating the Earth’s Best Rice Cereal he started on the Earth’s Best 1st Beginner foods. They include apples, bananas, carrots, pears, peas and sweet potatoes. He just loves them and I love that they are organic, no artificial colors, flavors, no preservatives, no added sugar or salt, and they are vegan, wheat free and kosher.
I’ve also tasted them and they actually taste good. Great for Baby and great for peace of mind. You can buy them buy the case at diapers.com for $7.49.

I had a bottle warmer with my son and would very much have appreciated the added bonus of a food warmer as well. The Philips Avent Express Bottle and Baby Food Warmer warms without the dreaded hot spots mommies worry about the microwave causing and apparently, gets the job done in less than four minutes. It even comes with a little spoon and container for storage. I’m not the kind of mom who will patiently wait (while baby screams) for the bottle or food to warm up in a cup of hot water, so this is right up my alley. I like the low-key colors and the simple shape, great for easily fitting in any kitchen décor. For $39.99 at toysrus.com, I think the price is right for convenience.

Skip Hop has a reputation for creating innovative baby products, and I think this baby food organizer is a prime example of how they built this reputation. Anyone who has used jarred baby food knows that it has a way of taking over your cupboards. I have not-so-fond memories of standing on a chair to find the jar I was looking for. The Skip Hop Chow organizer can be used in a cupboard, but its modern design makes it appealing enough that you can also display it on your counter. It has three shelves each of which rotates independently so that you can easily find what you are looking for. It is also designed to accommodate different sizes of jars. It is available in three colors: white, poppy (red), and marine (blue). I will definitely be buying one of these when baby number three starts eating food. You can get one for your own little one for $24 at skiphop.com.
