Seventh Generation Diapers

If you are looking for a compromise between cloth diapers and traditional disposables, you might want to take a closer look at Seventh Generation’s Chlorine-Free diapers. The inner absorbent core is made from non-toxic materials designed to be better for the environment and gentle for a baby’s sensitive skin. I have been less than enthusiastic about other environmentally-friendly disposables in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried these. They are well-designed, so they fit my daughter very well. Like the major brands, they have gathered legs and re-sealable tabs. This brand has become a favorite with earth-minded celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Michelle Williams, and Gwyneth Paltrow. At $51.89 for a case, these are only slightly more expensive than less Earth-conscious brands. You can buy them at drugstore.com.

Another good compromise between cloth and disposable diapers is gDiapers (available at http://www.gdiapers.com). They are less messy than cloth diapers because they are flushable but more environmentally-friendly than traditional disposables, because they are plastic-free, chlorine-free and compostable.
(No, I don’t work for gDiapers; I just care about the environment and a friend of mine uses these.)
